Charley: conditions change from day to day morning to afternoon even hour to hour.

I can say that there is still a lot of snow up there, well worth the hike. Which line is best depends on the weather overnight and that morning

ps, talk to the rangers and ski patrol that are there, they'll know best

Thursday weather is looking PRIMO. You shouldn't look for just the best line, but the best SAFE line. Liek Skilas said, talk to the doods in the green coats/shirts/pants - they are wise in the ways of snow. They will be at HoJo's for sure, and proably at the entrance to the bowl proper.

2 of us will be heading up Thursday as well. Planning to hit the trail from Pinkham for 8:00. Seems like things could be a bit firm in the morning, so bringing crampons. Hopefully everything will soften up as the day progresses.

As Matt said, best to see what's the safest line. Current report from tuckerman.org seems to indicate that the Lip or Sluice areas are NOT the safest/smartest options. Our plan (subject to change) will be to take run(s) in the Chute and/or Left Gully. If the weather is as nice as they're saying and things soften up and stay that way into the afternoon we'll finish up with a run down Hillman's and as much of the Sherburne as possible.
