I thought all had melted at Tremblant, but the Dunzee still look quite interesting. The only problem is to hike close to 2000' to reach it.

It's the narrow couloir going down from left to right at top. A lot of snow falls there, cause it's canyon-stiled and the wind push snow there + it's the coldest spot on the mountain.

Does it remains some snow in the mountains of New England who received a lot last week (Cannon, Sugarloaf, etc) ?

Sadly, it is 53 degrees Farenheit at Cannon Mountain today. Plus it rained here all day & night, & I imagine it did up there too, it's only 1 1/2 hours away from me. I don't think there is much snow left. Sugarloaf is not much better. Too bad, I really wanted to hike up Cannon this Sunday & take some turns.

Nice picture of Tremblant though!

Really sad if they lost all their snow.

Tremblant will lose it soon too, anyway :(

For the pic, the cool thing of Tremblant is the zoom control + 2 interesting webcams. This one is at about 10 miles from Tremblant, so the accuracy is pretty incredible.

I'd imagine that all skiable snow in NH, ME, & VT is gone with all the rain & warm weather we've been having. I was also planning a trip up to Cannon on Sunday, but it's not looking good. Now I'm hoping & praying for KOD this weekend....

Sorry for you, NH_tele, but KOD won't be this week. The best it could be is around november 8, as their spokeperson said to Marc Guido (administrator of First Track Online)

We're actually doing a little contest for which ski area will be the first to open in the east and when. I think I will post it here, although I have some bad souvenirs of the 1st snow contest ;)

Tremblant isn't the placed I'd go to grab 1st tracks. I'm sure they have mountain police hidding in the bush just waiting to nab and fine you.

Heck I got kicked off the base of the mountain once for flying a kite at Tremblant!

In May we tried to fly a kite on the Summit of Mount Washington and couldn't get enough wind to make it fly. It's quite funny, we filmed it on video.

Heck I got kicked off the base of the mountain once for flying a kite at Tremblant! First Tracks : extremely easy : go north side. There is never a person there and more snow, normally, in this time of the year. More... it's 400' less high than the south side ;)

Hahaha for the kite... I'm not surprised at all. They're really **** on the south side...

What a bunch of Nazis: Why do they care if you fly a kite? I used to be bummed that they wouldn't let me bring my dog to things (like parties at the base during ski season at sugarbush), but they explained that the dogs tend to foul the "Product" (i.e. snow)

But what harm could a Kite possible cause?

I wonder what their policy is on frisbees.

Maybe they're concerned you will become the leader of the latest craze, kite-skiing up mountains as quickly as you can descend.

My trac-kite is stalled in the materials acquisition phase. All I need is some spinnaker fabric...

Has anyone ever used a traction kite to climb the headwall?

I had a room mate in whistler (sponsored snowboard guy) that brought one of those fan back pack things to a snowboard contest in the states somewhere i think. It took a while for the patrolers to pick their jaws off the floor and stop him from going up hill in the half pipe. It was pretty funny. I think he owns a kite shop on the Madelaine Islands now.
