I've never skiied Tuckerman's before and am not sure that this weekend is a good one because of the weather. I'm a decent skiier, but not an expert. Should I go? Any advice?

See the "Heading up this Weekend, is the rain going to ruin it!!???" thread, which addresses some of the issues you raise.

I think a lot depends on what your own acceptance of potentially lousy conditions is. Are you willing to see/ski Tucks in just about anything? Is this the only weekend you can make it? Personally, I tend to have a better time in better weather, and I think it's safer if I can see the slope and it ain't frozen. But that's just me.

yo i skied in hardcore fog two years ago, 2nd weekend of may. Tucks test your nberves fo sure, but skiing in fog is scary as ****. First off obviously it is really steep but when you add fog to the equation it looks like the trail goes on forever... ie drops off the face of the earth. it is alot easier on your nerves when you can see the bottom and the runout but with ther fog it looks like you are on the south col of everest... no ****!

Yeah, visibility can't be over-rated, 'specially with the crevasess.

"I know that crevasse is around somewhere around heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...."

DMC and I gotted slapped really bad once back in the late 80's. Saw water in every form it takes. Stuck in the lean-to for a full day. As soon as it broke a little, we took off for Pinkham. Just past the upper bridge, the sun came out and it was nice. Love that weather.
