The notion of refusing to come out of the ravine has great appeal. In addition to escaping from the more mundane tasks of everyday life, it provides opportunity to check out more of the trails ....Hillman's, the Gulf, etc.

Is there a limit on how long someone can stay up during ski season? Are the sleeping spots so undesirable that it wouldn't be feasible to stay multiple days? Does anyone ever just refuse to leave? :skiplow: :tent:

Good questions skimum!

Haven't covered that one, even in the Guide to Hermit Lake Shelters (http://timefortuckerman.com/hermitlake.html) :tent:

(Me thinks we need a Hermit Lake Shelter Graemlin! )

It's pretty tough staying up there for more than a few nights due to the temperatures and conditions at that time of the year. As well you might have to make an additional trip back down to Pinkham for supplies. I don't believe there is a limit on the number of days you can stay, as its first come first serve. But best to check with the staff at Pinkham.

Please do so however... and report back to us! :skifemcool:

If there is snow on the the trail up, I could see towing a sled up loaded with a weeks supply of stuff ... Taking a shower in the brook might be a little chilly though... but one of those sun shower contraptions might work if you use some extra sunpower collecting methods ... you might even be able to take a warm shower that way :shelters:

Come on skilas! Everybody has to smell as good as the next guy!

I was at an outdoor spa near Mont Tremblant mid winter. I tried the cold pools outside.. ice cold to be exact Wowee! But it was refreshing.

We refused to leave once... planned on staying thurs and friday night, but had too much fun to go home and stayed another night. It's amazing how little you really need for another day of camping.

I've met guys with 100pnd packs who were planning on staying a whole week.

Shower? Why shower?

no need really, but I find the ladies tend to be less inclined to go so long... so I just thought I'd bring it up

Skilas: Another word to describe the water might be "Sterilizing"...I've bathed in water that cold before and have found that certain anatomical reproductive parts tend to want to try to crawl up inside when they hit the water. lol Anyways, still trying for this weekend although there are a couple of work issues that I may have to straighten out on Sat if I can't resolve them ahead of time...I HOPE THAT I CAN!!! I'm gonna end up skiing rocks and grass at the rate I'm going as far as getting in there to ski! Plus, the weekend is looking pretty good, weather-wise. Have fun, be safe. Al

You could stay up for 7 nights, come down, spend a night in town and then go up for another 7 nights though!

Unless you are like me and the whole work thing gets in the way...
