The other hemisphere is up and skiing with several places in Aus/NZ/Chile/Arg reporting snow. Las Lenas is reporting 10 - 40 inches already, this might be a stellar year to go down
Why dont you just move there?
If you did would you knickname be SkiTuckerman?

Wonder how long it's gonna take me to book a flight to Argentina if I keep looking at that picture!
No snow and no speed make elwood a dull boy...

talk is cheap :)
But anyway, I've been following some "real" updates, i.e., not from the resorts. It seems that the season is starting slow again. It has the past few years.
If your schedule is flexible, keep checking out flights on Lan Chile to Santiago. After mid-August is the best time. That's when summer break ends for the students and prices drop. You'd have to fly from NYC.

M@ :ducttape: You don't really want to fly into MDZ, six hour bus ride after your 20 hrs of flying. Try LGS, Malargue. You would probably need to fly to Buenos Aires and get a seperate flight from B.A. to Malargue

Next year, next year. I got a flight on priceline w/ Varig Airlines from Boston to Buenos Aires for $375, I then took a long ass bus ride but I could have flown to Malargue for about another $120 (which would be way cheaper with todays exchange rate)

Its too early. Wait a couple/3 weeks. The prices will drop. Right now is winter vacation down there. So, prices are higher.

Hey, anybody been down south this year? 2 weeks and I'm on my way. The reports I've been reading are not glowing this year. But a friend of mine down there says the more southern places (like Catedral) are doing quit nice. Anybody have any other news?

Hey,
Octopus's report is over on telemarktips.com. Great report!! Thanks -- it's also here as well (with the photos in the Reports and Pictures forum, thanks to Dave!)
I did add some additional logistical information to the ttips thread in response to one of the posts, so anyone who is planning a trip should check over there for some further details from our trip.

Just saw that United has e-saver fares from Dulles to Buenos Aires in early September for $550. Bet you could Priceline a real good deal right about now....
