Summit to Lip - tomorrow or next weekend?

Man I'm quite bummed to not have been able to do tucks this year due to weather and scheduling conflicts...

Right now my Mom is visiting and I thought that maybe we could take the auto road to the summit and then hike towards the ravine and look in over the lip. Does anyone know if that's possible? I was thinking of trying it tomorrow (5/10) but could wait for next weekend if it's not advisable right now...

Damn, took a better look at the auto road site, it's only open to 4.5 miles... no idea ho close to the top that is. They aren't picking up the phone so I can't ask them. Anyone know if there's any hiking trail that connects the auto road to tuckerman (either the bottom or the top)? This is starting to sound like it would be as hard as hiking the actual tuckerman trail from pinkham...

The auto road is 8 miles in length. So sounds like its open about 1/2 way.

The 4.5 mile marker is at about 4400 ft el. Approx same elevation as the floor of the ravine. Not much to ski around there.

The Auto Road is scheduled to open on Saturday however they had snow on Mt. Washington overnight (thursday-friday) and it is unknown if this will effect the opening.
