M@ we just saw the aurora borealis in NYC.... It appeared a red wisps in the northern sky.. At first I thought it was smoke but you could see a slight pulse to it.

Tried to take a picture but my shutter speed isnt slow enough.. I'll try again later if it appears..

Rightous man: I've been watching them too! Showed the kids and wife and dogs... but not the cats. Cats are stupid.

Not seeing much right now. My bro-in-law called me as I was driving home from the beer-mart, and I was looking at the moon when he said, "Are you seeing these awsome northern lights" and of course I wasn't but I got home fast and brought everyone out side to see... well, everyone that mattered.

I just checked, and they aren't going on here right now (9pm, oh wait! time to chat!) BUT: it's a super night for stars! The pleadies are right off to the north-east, and casiopia is right where I saw the readlly bright red patch before (my buddy in VT was out for a run, and said it looked just like a skull! ooooooOOOOooOOOOoooo!)

Anyhow - learn a few contellations - it's worth it. That kinda knowledge comes in much more handy than you thought it would when you learnt it.

(huh huh, he said learnt)

i can see some redness in the northern sky, although it is hardly visible. Hopefully it will get better as the night goes on...

Here are some pics from "Chromer" in northern Maine (the guy who skied the Loaf on oct 25)

he's got a couple of problems to take the aurora with his cam, but the red sky is pretty amazing !

You lucky stiffs!!!
Me and the girl went for a drive last night away from the city sat in a dark field and NOTHING!!

I was so looking forward to showing her the lights. Oh well...

We took the cat with us...he loves being strapped to the spoiler of my car...kinda sounds like a siren. :D

We have some neighbors that like to leave their cats out at night. When I was building a walkway this summer I would come home to piles of cat crap all over it. Once I got the walkway packed down they moved to my flower gardens. I threw buckets of water, sprayed them with the house, chased them and everything but the little :badwords: would keep coming back. We ended up dumping cayenne (sp?) pepper all over our flower garden. That kept them away for most of the summer. I would have loved to see them when the got a nose full of pepper. It would have been priceless.

My cats stay inside...

Safer here... Also they won't kill any small animals inside..

We got a stray we feed and the thing kills mice and moles and leaves them on our doorstep..

We have 2 cats. I can't stand them. They wake me up, the puke everywhere, their litter box is a disaster most of the time. I agreed to get one cat, and only later learned that they live for like 50 years. Then I made the mistake of suggesting that a good way to stop that cat from being the attack b1tch she is was to get another one.

Now we have two indoor cats. But they both long to be free... free as the wind blows.

Enough bad stuff about cats... I happen to think cats make great pets.. Especially if you spend every weekend skiing.. You can leave them alone with just food and water... Unlike dogs(who I really dig and plan to hgave one when I have property).. That you have to drag everywhere - wether the people your with agree or not..

I really hate to see most dogs at TUX... Have had some major negative buzzkill experiences mostly because of neglegent dog owners...

Dogs lost - dogs scared - dogs hurt and bleeding - dogs fighting - dogs crapping and pissing at Hojos - dogs bugging the avi dogs - dogs at shelters when they're not supposed to be there...

I REALLY hate it when people bring dogs to big outdoor fesitvals... Had a friend lose a dog after a Phish concert - saddest thing I ever saw - found it after a week... http://homepage.mac.com/mhommes127/ppfront.jpg
I could go on but my cat wants some food...

I with DMC, but I won't go on about my housemates poor forced-vegetarian dog. I love dogs but if you don't have the space, be kind find some space. I can't wait til I have the space, I want a a Rottweiler/Labrador cross. Lots of stamina, but don't need constant excercise, big and doofuslike, kinda smart, kinda dumb, very pretty, but can be scary when needed.

Vegeterian Dog? Whaaaaaaaaat? :D

Anyway - Yeah gotta agree with DMC about Pooches at Tucks....no place.....I remember my last trip in May....sitting at the top of the bowl at the base of the Headwall.....this poor golden retriever who followed his owner up the steeps, and then the owner dropped in for his run, and the poor doggie realized going down steeps was not as easy....poor thing ended up sitting on a rocks whining in fear...I felt so bad...some people can be idiots.....

-This dawgs .02.....

happy :pumpkin:

Vegi diet.... hmmmmm.... Dogs a carnivors... Yeah, it really pisses me off. me and a select few others feed her meat sometimes, but not too much because her system is not used to it. I don't understand how he can think he's doing her a favor just because he has made a choice for himself to be vegan.

Some dogs are good at hiking. If you're not skiing then the tux hike is great for dogs. My sister brings hers. My dog loves to hike, but I love to Ski, so Lego Dog stays home for tux trips.

Dogs play frisbee. Cats don't.

Dogs play frisbee. Cats don't. Sure they do.....Keith (our roommates cat) loves to play frisbee. He takes about three good hits to the head before he takes off....

Now laser pointers on the otherhand offer plenty of entertainment for cats....or for me but hey.

I got 2 big cats that act like dogs so I can have mt weekends to ride as long as I remember to leave a big pile of food for em.... or they can just catch mice to eat. I love low maintenance pets

When it comes to pets, I go both ways. I've had a :dog: , and wish I could have one now, but we're gone long hours all day, and have no yard, soI don't think that would be good for the dog.

Got two cats [the kitty icon did not work here]that are very friendly, and a self-scooping litterbox, which is the way to go. It scoops itself into a covered bin 10 minutes after a cat has left it. It still needs to be cleaned about every two weeks (and the bin o' poop needs to be emptied every few days). A cat-despising friend married a woman with a cat and got a contraption that hooks up to the toilet. once a day it actually cleans itself by turning the poop to liquid and dumping it into the toilet. I tried it on a free trial and the cats wouldn't go near it!

Dogs at Tucks? I agree with the "nice for the hike, not the ski" contingent. Our last trip someone tied up a dog part way up Hillmans and it just barked the whole time its owners were gone. Hmm, maybe one of those little handbag dogs that could ride in one's pack? ;)
