Disclaimer: I only go once a year, in the spring. This will be year #6. New baby in the house dictates a shorter than the typicla 3-day trip. Maybe one overnight, maybe day-trip.
My original plan was April 12th, the closest weekend to a full moon in April (a forumla which has served me OK in the past) Full moon helps the night hike up.
But this year I might not be over-nighting, so I've heard the 4-19 suggestion (April 19th), but that's easter I think.
Tons of snow this year, and looks like it's holding out just fine. Maybe the later dates, like into May are the way to go. I'm betting the sherburn is gonna hold up till may easy.
