Just came down from 3 days and 2 nights at Tucks. Yesterday was cold and windy and the snow was either crusty or frozen, from the snowfields all the way back to the shelters.

Today, on the otherhand, very much extreme otherhand was great! Unless you are hoping for some more significant snows, I'd head up there ASAP. I'll be developing 4 rolls of film from my old 35mm SLR but a lot of them will be from above Tuckermans, and the summit. Today I strapped my skis on on the summit veranda under the summit cam and didn't take them off until Hojos. The Sherborne was the sweetest I have ever seen it on all my annual Easter Full Moon Adventures for the last eight years.

Glad to hear it was sweet!! How was the trail above HoJo's into the bowl? Did you need specialized winter gear (i.e. Ice axe, Crampons) to get up into ravine to make some turns?? I am trying to get up there this Thurs/Fri/Sat (4/4-5-6).

Hi, The trail up from Hojos was all snow but easy hiking. The trail from the bowl to Hojos was tight in between trees, with the relative lack of deep snow.

Above lunch rocks was getting well packed in for foot holds so their should be no technical gear needed.

Of course if their is more snow, and the footprints get covered over, and one likes to be one of the first ones up, then you might want something to help get a grip. I am one of those types because I like to head to the summit. I also bought my first ice axe because of that sinking, awefully scary feeling I got once when climing the headwall, carrying skis, and starting to lose my balance going backwards, without ever getting my skis on! So I carry an ice axe wether I need it or not.

Have a great time, I think earlier is better this year the way it looks now. I wis I was going back this spring... I usually only get there around Easter.
