Thought a few would be amused by this one: Developer is trying to get the town to change the zoning of some land near my house to allow a huge mall to go in (they like to call it a Premium Outlet Center... pshaw) - anyhow, this is the 3rd year in a row they are trying to get the planning board to make the change. Last 2 years the nerighborhood (including me to no small ammount) got together and convinced the planning board not to allow the change.

Well this time, the developer has a VERY rich company interested in making the mall, and the hired a PR firm. The latest move the PR firm has made is to create a web page in favour of the change. I heard their website last firday: http://OutletsYes.com - so I quickly registered and created (drum roll) http://OutLetsNo.com

Personally, if I had hired a PR firm to do that and they'd missed the boat on that, I'd be pretty upset. We got both websites mentioned in the same newspaper article today so now everytime they market THEIR name, they are also marketing OUR name.

Realistically I am considnged to defeat this time around... our spare time vs. zero budget is no match for a full PR firm with a VERY large (full page ad large) budget.

But we gotta try.

I thought I was consinged to defeat - or at least prepared for it - but I wasn't.

I got my picture on the front page of the paper though:

And now everyone at work wants to talk about it.

Welcome to Mallimack.

The sand pit skiing must be preserved. No mall is possible on such holy ground.

:sandpit:

Nice counter move btw.

Not much skiing content in here - sorry, but I talk to you guys about everything and this is dominating my free time these days...

Over the past month we've updated the Anti-Mall websie:

http://OutletsNO.com

so check it out and let me know if you'd change anything... or if you see spelling errors (got a real nasty email from one guy about some spelling errors) And if you have it in your heart, drop us a few bucks, buy a t-Shirt or if you're in the Merrimack Area, have Dinner this sunday at YaMamma's and support our cause, only $30, lots of great rafflle stuff.

Went to the town meeting last night and held up a "Don't Jersy NH" sign, and a bunch of people smiled at me until a Cop told me I couldn't have it visible inside the meeting... no hard feelings. They didn't let us talk about our warrant article becuase it can't be changed at the meeting... which is on of many things we think a lawyer can use to defeat this... but #1 goal is to defeat it politically so it NEVER comes back.

I mention it here again becuase it's very much so taking up time I would spend on the slopes instead. The developer OWES ME POWDER!

Keep it up M@. My brother went to Riv in Nashua for 4 years and I could not look around the area witout seeing a mall-like structure. We don't need any more of them!

Bumping this up... M@, did you have any role in stopping the Nashua Walmart?

No role in Nashua Wallmart. I followed it, but had no role.

I heard our place (The Whiteface Lodge) would have been a Walmart except that there was a huge uproar by Lake Placid and area folks that they did not want to see the likes of Walmart polluting the area.

Its bad enough seeing a McD's in town...

Owners of 25 acres on land next to me have been trying for 10+ years to change the zoning from industrial to commercial...
Everyone in the areal has small signs (2' X 3') similar to the above laminated on stakes and posted out on their front lawns. You drive down some streets and there's one on every lawn. Keep up the good work!
