Hike to Tuckerman Ravine. 2 hr hike if your in shape. Start at Pinkham Notch. Take pictures, report back.

In North Conway there's a good fly shop...North Country Angler. They can steer you to what's hot and what's not in that area.
There's a fly fishing only section above the dam on the Ellis River at Route 16 (by Timmy's bridge). Easy access.

P.S. Good call taking some time for yourself. I like the way you think. :beermug:

That is a great area to get on river and whistle! There are a number of outfitters right in conway/N.conway and the rivers surrounding that area are really nice. This time of year they run a little low and are very bouldery which creates nice little holes but it gets tricky to retrieve when the water is low and boulders are exposed. i'm sure that the locals will be able to point you in the right directions when you get there or you can check out the NH fish and game websight. There are also sights that list the rivers and there stats if you play around on the web a little try nhoutdoors.com it lists all of the facts that you are inquiring about. In the area you are going to be in you may be best suited on flatwater, lots of ponds and lakes. Great fishing in Gorham, Moose Brook State Park!! i want to go fishin too!

If the weather is good, head up to Jefferson Notch road (just below the Cog Railway base). Drive to the height of the road (3000 ft) and poach Mt Jefferson. You can be above timberline in 45 minutes to an hour, and bag the summit in your alloted time. You'll get a great view of the Great gulf and all the Northern Presis.

Oh yes, I forgot it is the Ridge of the Caps trail...

Castlerock is probably onto a better hike. Tuckerman trail has little to no views until the very end when you walk out and see the ravine.

Ridge of caps is a cool way in the winter too. The cog base hates folks to park there in the winter, but a free-heel traverse to Pinkham from there can be a real treat! Somebody has to drive all the way around and do the Ravine....gee, who wins on that one?

Best done in Late February and Early March. Watch the avvy report!

thanks for the info. i think i may stick to the fishing, already got the rod stashed behind the seat, plus its easier to drink while fishing. the best way to arrive at a wedding is sunburned, buzzed, and stinking like fish.
