Tomorrow im planning to head up to loon. I was wondering if anyone has been up there yet and if they have what are the conditions like?? its been cold these last couple of nights so they should have been able to blow some snow. Any info would help out, thanks!!

I stopped in Lincoln on the way to Cannon Tram parking. Word at the Information Station about Loon was "loose granular" (chopped up ice). It was 25 degrees up there today, probably 20 degrees at top, so they could have made some snow; not sure if they did. If you go, tune up your edges for when the snow gets pushed off.

You were right on lol. Early in the morning the snow was great but with thousands of people on one trail it was skied off by about 11. Then it gotten really hard and icy and my edges werent that great. It was a fun day overall tho

The disclaimer:
I haven't been to Loon yet this year
That being said, if I were you, I'd at least look further north to Bretton Woods. They've got top to bottom skiing with two real lifts (and a bunny lift). Best part is that lift tickets are only $29 though!

Hit up loon on 11/27 due to lack of wildcat snow, (no lifts or hikable stuff on sat, up there) we have a threedom passes so the wife and I just took our time getting up and were on mountain about 11, by which time all evidence of grooming was long gone. Certainly would not have even considered it if we were not working off our passes. Lots of kids, lots of ice, but did have two decent trails open, although those "two" trails overlap for quite a ways. On most of the trail it was possible to stick to sides and get some granular but always dodging ugly ice patches. All around just about what you would expect for crowds and conditions. That said, it sure felt good to get a few runs in and start to feel the flow again.
An aside, we did scope out wildcat on friday and took a long hard look at left gully up on tux, if not for the lingering tryptophan hangover that may have been the call, in the end I settled for loon, but it sure is coming. :happyhiker:
