That sounds like fun! We have to run to competition for at least a week or two in order to let everyone that don't frequent this site a chance at becoming famous. Think I'll start designing today.

Thats it !

Im going to have to start designing too !!!

We could pool our money together to one TFT'r and that person would purchase and mail out the stickers.

We could use paypal to send payments to that person.

Sound good ?

Pretty hard to beat the simplicity and elegance of the AMC Pinkham Notch store 'Tux' sticker, but it's worth trying. I've already got my ideas.

I think a poll is definatly the way to decide what our offical "sticker" is. So everyone start your desinging and stuff - and probably in a couple weeks we'll have a poll on the designs.

I'm thinking we buy about 50 of them, that way the person who ordered them and shipped them out has a pretty good chance of breaking even if they charge peeps $2 a pop.

We'll need to discuss a couple things though. If we decide to go with this site I found, everyone would have to go and read their "instructions" so the design you submit is very easy to make a reality.

Also: Maybe talk about things like: I want the sticker for my skiis and maybe my helmet. I don't have many stickers on my car... or maybe I would want it on the car - but only if it says Tuckerman... I dunno... thinknig this out now so we actually do something about it this time.

I emailed a guy on ebay about a custom red sox sticker he made, about making stickers, and he made a bunch of sample stickers for me, mostly Euro with a simple T4T on them - and they were pretty kewl - but the price was higher than the site above.

Bringing this one back from the dead!

Here are a few from last years discussion...

My original design (spilled some water on it)

Application in the real world
http://timefortuckerman.com/members/skicdave/T4Teuro1withraindrops1.jpg

Think this was Matts modified version that gets my vote (maybe different tagline... see below)

http://timefortuckerman.com/members/skicdave/T4Teuro1matt2.gif

Could have different version of the bottom tag line:

"These skis skied Mount Washington"
"These skis climbed Mount Washington"
"This board road Mount Washington"
"This board climbed Mount Washington"
"These skis made it to Lunch Rocks"
"These skis got trashed at Mount Washington"
"These skis were lost at Mount Washington"
"I skied Tuckerman Ravine"
"Meet me at Tuckerman Ravine"
"I'd rather be skiing at Tuckerman Ravine"
"Hillmans or Bust!"
"Headwall or Bust!"
"I skied naked at Tuckerman Ravine" :D

yadda yadda yadda

Euro idea is very cool.....

But it is now very cliche' and overdone.
Everyone and their mother has some sort of EURO style Abbreviated sticker on their car.....an since we are obviously "An ELITE Group"....snicker snicker....maybe we should go for somthing not so mainstream.....?

Just a thought....i would still sport the EURO proudly if that is picked....

Sticker guy looks pretty good but Makestickers.com are larger... maybe too large? Makestickers are a bit more expensive but no shipping. Hmm.. faster shipping though makestickers.com also...

How is the quality Affix Snow?

I can get the image prepped for Sticker Guy or Makestickers and order some for distribution through the site.

Sticker Guy Black on the 4.25 X 2.75 oval. Doesn't show you can get Black and Red on an oval though.

Makestickers offers 6 X 4 oval. Which size do you prefer?

I wonder if we should have 3 version and get 250 of each.

What tag lines would you choose for the two versions?

I like...

"Earn Your Turns" but undecided about the other two...

"These Boards Skied Mount Washington"
"This Board Road Mount Washington"
"I skied Tuckerman Naked" (kid inside me chose this one)

Offer your choice of 3 and we can setup a poll after.

Lets consider the use of these stickers (Ok so I over analize everything.. but hey.. I usually make good choices)...

Sticky Guy has 4.25 X 2.75" ovals which will fit nicely on your ski (no problemo for boards).

Makeskickers are 6 X 4 which are quite a bit larger... more suited for your car prehaps.

So question is where will you put them?

skis?
board?
car?
helmet?

Which size do you prefer?

Regarding the original calls for design M@ was suggesting...

From what I see, making anything too complex beyond the traditional euro style isn't such a good idea. If you want to submit additional designs they will have to be simple, black or red or black and red. They have to be legible from afar too.

Probably would be printing them on a 4.25 X 2.75 our larger oval.

I currently have one of DMC's "This board climbed mount washington" on one ski of each pair I've carried up the tuckerman trail. So the "This board climbed Mount Washington" tag line works very well for sticking them on your skiis.

As for places to stick them: I have "This Board Climbed Mt Wash" on my skiis, and the test-market "T4T" euros on my computer cases and on my guitar case. I'll probably put one on my laptop case as well... as a T4T would be most appropriate there.

I don't think photo-images are going to look very good on a bumbper sticker, I could be wrong.

Let me just say it again: I really like the idea of "parodying" the "This Car Climbed Mount Washington" sticker like DMC's stickers did with "This Board," and while I recognize that "Board" isn't the same as "Ski" - you can't please all the poeple all the time and that's as close as you're gonna get, that and the fact that the most popular place these stickers are going to go is gonna be on skiis/snowboards/blades - that's what I would recommend.

Once again - this idea has gone crazy - maybe too many cooks? Perhaps simplify it - continuie discussion as much as you want - but eventually have a poll which will contain several choices.

How about "One Submission Per Member" ? Any thoughts on that idea?

No this is BRILLIANT (M@ - just SHUT UP)
Screw you, stupid voice in mu head (That's it, I'm outta here)

If we didn't make the stickers "T4T", but instead had them be the "This Board Climbed Mt. Washington" with a "TimeForTuckerman.Com" we could print a boatload of them, and DONATE them to the caretaker's hut - and let them sell them for $2 a piece to support the ski patrollers up there. Of course we'd all buy one right away - and it would make everyone who went and takes digipix have a link to here so we'd get more Fresh Tux.

BRILLIANT!

Yes I agree M@ the finally sticker will be simple and no photos ($$$'s plus can't be read from afar).

Looking at the cost, I'd be fine to order 2 maybe 3 versions. Not much price difference actually ordering 2 versions vs 1. We can poll shortly, maybe next week.

On the short list how about we have

"Earn Your Turns"
"This board climbed Mount Washington"
"Toni Matt Club" or "Toni Matt Club Member" (TMC members only benefit)

Other ones to seriously consider?

Oh no more disk space! Oh this brings up that issue too... there are some whopping big photos that many have ulploaded. I'm going to have to put some limits on that or something or we'll be out of disk space by spring.

I'm leaning towards the sticky printer guy... Affix's man since their oval stickers are just the right size for skis and they do black and red. Besides Affix is going to guarantee his :bum: that this is the best bet

I'm fine to order them through and then set them up on the site with paypal...need to do that do for a 'donation' system also which I keep putting off.

I say final submissions by Wed next week followed by a poll and we get this gig done! Personally I like the euro concept that M@ and I have been rehashing. Simple, 2 color, and easy to read from afar. Open too submissions however... good luck! Poll will probably offer a few 'taglines'. Might order 2 or possibily 3 versions. Thats true.. great idea1.. gives the illusion of the original, yet isn't.

The 'live free or die' tag line is another good one... especially for the NH folk.

Deviating... "More Headwall, less Lunch Rocks"

"I'd rather be Hucking the Headwall"

"Ski Your Line, Then Met Me Online" (version for Elwood, see HERE (http://timefortuckerman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3210) for more about this)

I have never liked "TUX", a pet-peeve, this is an article of clothing.

I would like to see "T4T" all by itself, Bold Black, no tagline, as an option.

"I kissed the Lip"

DMC: I have a T-shirt, Dave has a T-shirt, Bladegirl has a T-shirt... ;)
I offered to print them to order... I offered to print them on anything, all anyone has to do is send it to me, and pick your design here (http://timefortuckerman.com/tshirts.html) . All I ask for is $5 for postage and supplies.

Something about those pix turns my stomach.... They're almost scary! We don't need to see flesh and the words should be enough for fertile imagination.

I think a plain background (or perhaps a silohuette) with T4T big and bold. Of course the web url and whatever catchy slogan at the bottom. Throw in the triple black diamond symbols on it as well.

I would like to have these put on my planks for good 'introductory ice breaking' in lift lines. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif The ski naked always provoked very interesting looks and grins in my experience. Ths would take it up a notch.

Just for the record and to keep T4T an accurate source for information about the Ravine:

The picture that was suggested for the sticker by Justin that he referred to as the "classic Tux picture" is, I believe, a picture of the 1937 Harvard/Dartmouth GS race, not the
American Inferno which was an open race held only in 1933(down Right Gully), 1934 and 1939 (over the Lip).

Incidentally, on another thread, someone stated that in 1939 Dick Durrance was second to Toni Matt's 6:29 with a time of 12:35. That is incorrect. Dick's 12:35 was the winning time in 1934. Dick was second in 1939 with a time only one minute behind Toni.

Should I consult with Harkin Banks about finding some classic TUX shots? He has some serious vintage photos we can scan.

Using a background photo would be a possiblity as per Justin's version. I have many a few that would look close to the 'classic shot' that we can use without having to worry about copyright issues. Whos shot is that, that you used Justin?

I'm sure copyright issues would be an issue with Harkin's collection as well... maybe we can him in on this conversation... anyone see him lately?

Well for the stickers, it really needs to be simple or the sticker is not legible from afar. I have about 25 various stickers on my office cabinet, and not one is photographic.. and for a reason I am sure... ok besides the cost of multi color, but they are also MUCH more legible. The KISS theory holds true for stickers.

So it probably boils down to something like

http://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/665/917skiFreee.gif

(Justins) with a different bottom tag line

or

http://timefortuckerman.com/members/skicdave/T4Teuro-EarnYourTurns.gif

Doable taglines at this point included:

Earn Your Turns
This Board Climbed Mt. Washington
This Board Skied Mt. Washington
Mmmmm... Fresh Tucks! (great reference to a tradition on the website)

maybes...

Tuckerman Ravine, Huck it if You Can

I probably missed some.. let me know so we can accumulate them for the poll.

I'm still thinking personally of doing some that are given out only to TMC members (no cost to member)...

Whos shot is that, that you used Justin?

M@ took a bunch off killer shots last spring (i think), i used the middle one (of course)

I agree Legibility sould be the primary goal. Images behind the T4T could always be set to a lower opacity if need be...

http://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/665/917T4Teuro-EarnYourTurn.gif

Then is the image readable?

or for the :bluebird: folks

http://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/665/917T4Teuro-EarnYourTurns-4.gif

The tag line almost seems like it should be a separate poll. I liked the 'ski free or die' before bladegirl kindly reminded me of it's implications  Now i think it should be axed.

Personally, i'm willing to make any adjustments and or try different combinations for those who have suggestions - they only take a few minutes...
