Does anyone else have this Thursday off? Depending on the reports back in from the crew up there today I will probably be making a day trip to K-Mart on Thursday.

Anyone else?

If the guns are off it's a no brainer - go go go. If the guns are on, bring rock-goggles you don't mind scaping and go go go. It's ****ing skiing season!

Temps in the 40s ought to take care of the :chicken: but now they are calling for possible :raining:  Just looks like showers... I'm going.

Anyone else in? I'm heading up I-93 from the Boston area for anyone who wants to tag along... just don't be late!

Better late than never... my report that is... had a great opening day. Would have been better if I hadn't stopped and picked up a six pack of Rogue Dead Guy Ale and proceeded to polish off most of it Wed night... my head was pounding pretty good at 5:30 when the alarm went off. None the less, in the car with my large coffee and three donuts from Dunkin Donuts by 6:05 a.m. (try the special Gingerbread Donut... mmmm Donuts)

Uneventful ride up until I blew past the exit off of I-89 in White River Junction while fiddling around looking for my WHO CD... craving Teenage Wasteland... never did find it but realized quickly that oh sh!t I just blew past the exit. A stealth U-ey and I was back on track.

Stopped in at the Basin ski shop to have my bindings adjusted to my new boots and ended up walking out with a new pair of skis. I demoed the Atomic Metron M11s last spring and LOVED them. Decided to give myself an early x-MAS present and for the first time ever bought this year's skis before the season started. I'm feeling a bit guilty and thinking that perhaps my recent nuptials have thrown me into some sort of early mid-life crisis.

Anyway, on to the skiing, which for November 11th was pretty darn good. I don't understand Killington or their trails. I generally avoid the place like a monk avoids conversation, but right now it's the only game in town. They say "8 trails" I counted 2.5, but then again it's all about marketing. I'll give them big props for the snowmaking. After a tentative run on my old skis I was pleasantly surprised to see that the coverage on the open terrain was great. After a couple of runs I went back to the car for the new skis.

A great day overall... stopped at Long Trail to bring the wife a case of beer and a pint glass (she loves pint glasses... ) to lessen the impact of walking in with new skis.

All is good in the world... well not really, but it's snowing, I've got a day of lift served skiing under my belt, and a cold Long Trail in my hand. What more could a man wish for?

Sweet- glad you made it and got some tracks down. New skiis? Wow - that sounds pretty luxury like. I didn't bring my new pair on tues but wish I had.

Pint glasses are kewl - we need some new ones, all the graphics are wearing off our old ones.

Were the guns running on ya?

Guns were off and temps were in the mid 40s at the base and low-mid 30s at the top. All in all a great day...

Just got yelled at... I guess I dripped some hot wax on the kitchen floor last night. I need a basement.

For lack of anywhere esle to put this - Sat 11/13 report for K-mart.

Conditions were a little scraped, especailly over on Rime/Glades area, and on the typical hi-traffic intersections (clusterf#!k areas), but cover was decent considering the early season/lack of natural.

Strapping in at the top of Rime one run saw some guy with an Arbor deck….tried to see if it was mounted forward, thinking at might by Affix Snow :D

Guns were on all day, including full blast over on Bittersweet/Skylark, so I would guess that is next as far as terrain-expansion goes.

I was impressed with the fire (snow)power they were putting out yesterday. Talked to some goon in my house last night who works for the mountain in some capacity, was mentioning they replaced a huge amout of pipes this year allowing for considerable increase in capacity.

Snowdon was pretty decent - especially Highline - great huge soft bumps on the steeps - guns were on, but as long as you had goggle is wasn’t a big deal. Crowds were manageable. As mentioned above quite a few hackers out there, but as long as you kept and eye out you were ok. Upper bunnybuster next to the POMA had great soft snow under the sun.

Great bluebird skies all day. Didnt notice any wind at top...also had to loose a layer. Temps were perfect – cool enough for the guns to run all day without producing soup, but cool and comfortable.

We need to loose this hi pressure and get some natural snow brewing…..it felt soooooo good to be playing on the white stuff this yesterday. :cooldog:

I got out there on friday - conditions were suprisingly good and there were no lines at all. Had a great first day!

If anyone is heading to K next weekend, let me know - would be great to take some turns with you folks!
