Man oh man, I think this year may be the year. So much snow, so few thaws. I am stuck down here in NYC (in exile from Massachusetts) for a few months and I am already drooling over my first run on Hillmans, then on to the Bowl after that warmup run. See you on the lunch rocks-soon!

I check the weather EVERYDAY just waiting for the Day when I can drive up from NJ for the ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE... I agree, It looks like this year might be the ONE!! Last year came up a little late , MAY 20th....Looking forward to April......
Does anyone know if you can stay in an RV in the parking lot at Pinkham Notch overnight?

You guys are missing the point. I've been twice this year. Yeah, it's cold. Conditions are not perfect. But it's not about the party and showing off in front of the crowd. It's the feeling. And it feels better with fresh snow during the colder months. Just have the right gear, pay attention to the snow/weather reports and get some back country training before you go (transceiver/shovel/probe). The guys that run the mountain are great and know their stuff. They post on-line the conditions almost every day. The only drawback is that sometimes you're lucky as far as conditions go. Sometimes you're not (sheets of ice). But just don't go above the ice.
Boarders will also find that its much easier to carve in deep snow on the steeps. That's when you get the real feeling. Last note, if you're not good enough to do the wall (and you should not if you're not): on almost all days in the cold months, the Sher. trail is sure to be fun.

Hey "notjustanotherboarder"
1. If you were a true purist, you'd be on 2 planks, not one.
2. I know about the feeling of Tucks. And I LOOOOOVE showing off. I have been working my a** off for 15 years to become an expert skiier- it's fun to hear the cheers when RIPPING center wall in front of hundreds of fanatics.
3. The party is half the fun- I have made some of the best friends of my life at Tucks.
4. I am 20. I can't afford a transciever, shovel, gas to tucks, days off from work/school etc.
5. You are better than me for having hit tucks already. I feel worthless. I think I need counseling.

Hey Timmy,
1) Whatever works for you.
2) The silence of almost no one there is even better. Especially if you're from NYC. I lived there for 1 1/2 years.
3) The silence of almost no one there is even better.
4) You've got time. I'm 37.
5) Take the pain.

If you need to ask...
Seriously, if you can get down pretty much any black diamond run in the east (don't have to look pretty), you'll find something to try at Tuck's. If it looks too tough above you, strap em on and go!
