Trails Closed in Tuckerman's (News Link)

FYI: Two areas of Tuckerman Ravine have been closed as a result of unsafe conditions and three people falling into crevasses in past two weeks. Details can be found from the Conway Daily Sun through the following link.

I didn't realize closing this was an annual occurance. Last saturday(5/12)there was quite a few holes opening up and a select few people were still trying to ski down from the upper parts of the headwall down the right side in the vicinity of the waterfall. There were several obvious cracks and places where the undermining had taken it's toll causing the snow to collapse and settle. This seemed to be making the Vol. Ski Patrol a tad agitated and I can't say as I blame them. I wouldn't look forward to going down a cold, wet hole just to extricate some x-game throwback.

Safety First, then the fun comes all on its own.
