It's just the light effects of an approaching 7pm sunset on some haze bands. We were looking at M-31 through 9X63 binocs by 8 pm over at Camp Dodge. Today (Sunday) dawned with the summits covered by what looked like a valley fog, upside down. Would have been lenticulars except that there was no wind. Not until mid-day that is when the summit started blowing up around 60 knots.
There were winds of over 100 and several inches of rain earlier in the week. There are about 7 waterfall coming down the headwall, Boott Spur trail requires an inflatable to get through the swamp at the bottom and Lions Head is pretty wet.
