When we did a test hike with ski equipment I became uncomfortable between my shoulder blades after just a short time. Any of the experienced hikers have ideas on ways to adjust the backpack forces to reduce this?

Mumster,
How long did you hike? Best bet to try an hour or so... preferrably uphill. You'll forget all about those shoulder blades :)
The shoulder straps should really just keep the thing against your back, there shouldn't be much weight on the shoulders at all. You need to get the belt wicked tight. When I hike up the 60+ pnd pack I usually have two people pull the belt straps from either side.

M@ster is right. Most of the weight should be on your hips with the shoulder straps just helping to stablize the pack. Try loosening the shoulder straps a tad... then see my previous post. :D
Not sure about the two people helping thing (M@ you best excersize a tad!)... I just suck it all in first.... mileage may vary.

Belt = male corset? Never though of having 2 people pull for me. What do you do if you are alone? lol Have fun. Al
