Looking at the great info available here at http://timefortuckerman.com/routes.html, what about more detailed up-close-&-personal pics of the various routes? e.g. photo documentation answering possible questions like "What does it look like right before you drop Dodge's?" Is there any interest in generating a catalog of shots showing the skier's perspective of the various routes?
I was thinking about something along these lines as well. A photo database with CO-ORDINATES of the subject and the photographer. So you could ask it "Show me all photos of hillmans," or you could ask it, "Show me all photos taken from the lip"
Also the Date would be key - and the ability to query it by not just date ranger, but time of year. So "All hillmans photos in March"
I started to build something like this in PHP and mySQL, but it looks like DJango got a lot futher on his photo database porject.

How about starting up a SourceForge open source project?
We could have it so you could host your own databases - but also it would have a function to "Package" the database so we could merge them. If we have this in mind from the start it shouldn't be too complex.
It should be, at the heart, just a database of images (by URL) and then attributes. Maybe it's as simple as a DTD for an XML representation - and then any project can use that to present/dataentry/search/whatever.

I would love to do a project like that and it wouldn't be that hard to build (certainly easier than my database projects at work). Time is my only concern... not sure if I have enough of it to spare as of now to build a prototype.

Is there any interest in generating a catalog of shots showing the skier's perspective of the various routes? Yes! I was thinking of integrating views on the Flash map I did... I'd like to have a button that says "show views" and little opague dots will appear on the map where we have an image from that view.
What would REALLY be nice would be some 360 views... Like this one of the inside of a pyramid (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/pyramid/explore/khufuunflo.html)
