Hey,
I noticed all these concert postings.
I also noticed one genre of music as well, (which is a cool one at that)
although
I have to wonder,
Are there any metal junkies out there..........
Like slipknot, mudvayne, tool, perfect circle (not exactly metal), NIN.
And the one that people never know about
Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI - not really any genre of music)
Just curious if im alone in this little blue marble.
I watched a Linken Park video last night and thought it was kinda kewl. Are they considered Metal? Or "Alternative"
Go Quiet Riot! Whoo hoo! We'll get WILD WILD WILD!
But seriously, I don't listen to a lot of metal.
M@
Metal...
Like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motorhead??

Sabbath ,,,, hell ya !!!
and Linkin Park, I would consider that metal, but not in the terms of slipknot.

I had a metal plate installed for head banging....
Sabbath, old metallica, scorps et al.....
Much more into the punk scene tho well at least I was....pistols, BFG, Clash, Ramones, Pennywise, Minor Threat / Fugazi, Dayglo, Damn Nation etc etc.
When the Pistols broke out in high school my whole outlook on music changed...
Used to sneak into CBGBs with fake IDs to see the Ramones...
Caught the Clash a bunch of times in NYC - twice at the famous Bonds Casino run..
Love the first Def Lep album.... Metalica Master of Puppets...
Live and die for Led Zeppelin...
Hard music is cool...
I snowboard with a guy from Bio Hazard... they rip... Of course I also have skiied with John Hall from Orleans... So that doesnt count for punk... Good guy though...
I love music... Every kind of music...

Dont get me started on Metalica,, I wish there was an avatar of a nice ***** cat, cause it would be planted right next to Metalica. But I guess this will do :kitten:
ERRRRRRRR, Metalica + Napster = me not being a fan any more.
Their old stuff I have to admit is good, but those guys are such :*******s:
.................................................. .......
Sorry fans.
RIAA can kiss my :packdonkey:
can anyone tell im a little sensitive about this.. LOL.... its all in good fun though.
See what metal does to you...

I usually keep quite about music because I know my taste differ greatly from the majority of people on this board. As far as metal goes I avoid all mall metal such as what was listed and prefer Swedish black metal such as At the gates, In flames, Arch Enemy ect... I also really like the metal influenced Hardcore such as Converge, Himsa, Unearthed... I also listen to a ton of underground hiphop /indie rap (read non commercial/MTV/non thuggish) such as Aesop Rock, Slug, EL-P, Eyedia, Alias.
Thats why I qualified it with MAster of Pupets..
I'd much rather listen to Megadeath...

Seriosuly.... I love the stuff... Can't get enough...If it's good enough for Ms Parton...her last few discs have been such an inspiration
I agree about bluegrass, it's the heavy metal of the unplugged world. The time, the layers..it's all in there.

There is a club here in town...the Silver Dollar they do a thursday nite blugrass thing. It is awesome. Lots of beer..... There is also a decent bluegrass/gospel/olde tyme radio show wednesday nites from 10 till midnight on a local college station here in town CKLN. The stream it too so all can listen.
One of my friends another Box Loader founder is a piper and has taught himself to play banjo. Another guy was a champion fiddle player in his youth. This band will play everything. Gots to have horns and BIG percussion.
I love hip hop but not the new stuff. De la Soul, Del, grand pupah etc. I really do miss A Tribe Called Quest.
I dig most anything....Bluegrass, funk, punk, rock metal. Apparenly the first words out of my mouth were Simon and Garfunkle lyrics. My mum was an opera singer and music has alway been a huge part of my life.
As long as they play instruments some how I am happy. Sampling and turntables are cool as long as it incorporates instruments and playing them. But then again Kid Koala treats his turntables like percussive instruments. Pretty unreal if you get a chance to see him live it is pretty amazing. His albums do not do him any justice.

I have seen kid koala, he is amazing. A lot of the new Ninja Rat productions are really good as well. Blockhead as Well as Sixtoo's new LP's are worth checking out. I DL'ed RJD2's new LP from Itunes and its def good. As far as hiphop and instruments the Roots live shows puts most rock shows to shame, check them out if you can.
If its any good and its metal or hardcore I have prob heard or own it. I grew up in the scene and a lot of friends were/still are in some of the bigger bands.

The Roots are mind blowing live. I actually just saw J5 and it was pretty good too. They pulled it off and did there thing with none of the hype attitude or predisposition to being poser gods like happens at so many hip hop shows.

Some of my favorite metal cd's are "old" Metallica (Puppets,Justice,Ride the Lightening" I'm still amazed what they have become. Lars Ulrich (the drummer) has turned into a little bi-otch. I stopped listening to them after I bought the black album the day it came out.The black album is pretty good but it was quite a change. I still listen to South of Heaven every now and then. Rammstein and Fear Factory are also good.
I think "Puppets" is an amazing album...
The only recent CD I got from Metalica was the one with the orchestra... And i got it for free... It's pretty cool.... Espicially Master Of Puppets.... :)
Lars aint all that on the drumset... Not that I'm one to talk... My major drumming influences are Ringo and Charlie Watts... Among others...

I agree DMC. Lars isnt really "all that" on the drums. He used to be really good. Fast feet. Good chops. Then it all just went to H3LL when he cut off all his hair....or realized he is a bioch :D But, he has made it further in music than i have....yet! :D
Old Metallica is great!

Moon from The Who was a great drummer as well.
Let's start the morning love fest:

It's almost like Phil Collins... In his old days in Genesis(Peter Gabriel era) he was a MONSTER on the drumset... Progressive jazz style... Nailed odd time sigs...
Even when he played on Gabriels 3rd album he was a monster...
Now... ehhh... Not so amazing...
