Jeez.
Did they find anybody buired in their cars?
I remember a few years back when they were getting all that snow on the praries. The South Dakota State Police were warning snowmobilers to beware of power lines. The drifts on the side of the highways were so high a couple of people got electricuted. I think one even was decapitated.

Thats wild.... Man...

10 years ago or so I went to Tahoe and the snow was piled up like that but not as high.. Every once and while you'd see dead animal carcasses in the snow where the poor critters got trapped and the plows would just plow them into the sides...

Like fossils...

that also reminds me of a boardercross competition at mamoth (i think) the camera crew pulled into the lot and they started shooting some footage in the parking lot. Tahoe got a huge amount of wet heavy powder and there were cars in the parking lot with flat tires and bent axles. It was amazing.

There I fixed the post up a bit. That's insane about the all that heavy snow. At least the snow in these pics look dry. I'll look around the office and see if anyone has the pics of the backhoes clearing the highways.

I have been trying to find a photo of the world record snowfall at Mt. Baker to post but I am having trouble. 93'-8".....unreal. they had to shut down for two days in February to dig the chairs out. They have painted markers on some of the lift towers to give you an idea of how deep it the base was. Of course that was the year that I didn't make it to Baker. Did get to Whistler tho and it was sick.

Ya they are a pretty understated place. The family keeps the place pretty low key and that is fine. It is refreshing to ride there as it has a much more rustic laid back feel. There is only one post card that shows the snow in the parking lot that you can buy at the ski shop.

Yes ...the weather models that go out 2 or 3 days are predicting very cold temps aloft ..especially in comparison to what they are now. The 850mb (~5,000ft) temps are projected to drop from the mid 60s(19 C) to the upper 20's(-2 C). That's a Huge drop (~80 degrees)(21 C). Very powerful, especially for august. Mt washington will definitely go below freezing. Exciting stuff :D
