Okay folks, old buisness first, the restroom renovation committe reports an under-budget but slightly late completion of the project. Everything was done, but the olympic pool filling calculations neglected to account for filtration.

New Buisness: We need more feedback on the purity test, and there's a motion on the table to organize a referendum considering the Membership status of SkiDave. His avatar has read "Moderator" as long as I can remember. I'm sure we can clear this little clerical matter up with a quick show of hands... as founding member, I put forth that we vote SkiDave in. All in favor of the motion?

I see there are a few new members. Make sure everyone explains the new handshake, and that they have directions to the secret Toni Matt exectuive web cam link. I know this is one of our sacrad secrets, but I feel it's best we only ever show people, even over our shoulders at work the view of the ravine itself, and not the "all webcam" link.

Any other new business?

Ok : so Skicdave = Founding member
M@ & DMC = Pioneer members

A question like that... who is member #1 ??

Mumster

M@ :ma: .

First, Did I congratulate you on 500? :ducttape: Excellent work.

I second the motion to vote Skicdave :skicdave: to the club.

I'd like to add the issue of incorporating levels into the club. My ideas for this are outlined in the previous club topic. We need a way to handle the enormous increase in posts and the members who will soon be at 1000 or more.

Everyone loves purity 0.5. :lips: . It was a work of brilliance.

Franko, we had the number 1 discussion previously. No one has it - we are holding it in case Toni wants it. Also, after skicdave, M@ was the first to reach Toni M@ status. I don't think #2 was DMC - it may have been Stoogie. I think SkiLas was number 3. Three of us more-or-less tied for fourth - elwood, DMC and I all hit within a day. (DMC was the first :snowboarding: )

A question like that... who is member #1 ?? Franko, I believe I had an admin login when I first converted the site to the UBB (Ultimate Bulletin Board) software, which was member #1. I must have deleted member #1 at some point and only used skicdave. Member #1 would definately go to Toni Matt if he was alive.

According to my logs, DMC was first seen on T4T back in April 1996, M@ was first seen in April 1997. DMC is most likely the longest member on T4T (other than myself) with over 7 years on the site followed by M@ with over 6 years on the site. (corrected as per Franko's observant math)

So you might say many on here are the T4T youth of today and DMC and M@ are... hmm... like your grandfathers... maybe great grandfathers? We can ll learn from their years of experience.

Ok, I thought the website was existing only since april 2000. (btw, we're not in 2002, but 2003... so it's over 7 years for DMC and 6 years for M@ ;) )

I admit it's quite a long time for them... when I think that I skied my namesake trail for the first time in march 1996. (march 9, exactly). This seems me already very long ago !

I agree with Mum, for the msgs. Considering my example of 283 msgs in 1½ months, it's really easy actually to reach the 100 msgs (when you're a crazy dedicated skier in serious withdrawal and in vacation just passing your days at the conditioned air before the winter comes back).

Don't you worry, my flow of messages is almost over with the school beginning... tomorrow...

For the scales, this is my actual "opinion" Pinkham notch visitor (1-19), hojo's (20-39), lunch rocks (40-59), sherburne (60-79), little headwall (80-99), Hillman's master (100-200), Headwall master (200-300), Dodge's drop master (or so) (300-500), Toni Matt club : 500+

something like that.... with more categories, if needed, to see how much you have to work to become a legend as Toni Matt ;)

I don't think so much people will hit the 500 so soon. I probably won't hit it in 2003. DMC will next week if it's as last one. Skilaslenas, Mum and Elwood will top it this fall. Don't know for RR/Stoogie. For the other ones, it will be longer.

Jolly J / Bannick possibly this fall...

Frankonhistory: Time for Tuckerman was born April 1, 1996 and resided at http://ski.websmith.ca/ski/tuckerman until I registered the timefortuckerman.com domain in 2001.

Actually you have a pretty good suggestion there... add a Dodge's Drop Master to the mix and bump up requirements for TMC. This means many will get bumped down a level... how do you all feel about them muffins?

I've thought that the member level should also be determined by whether you have been to Tucks or not also. Thus if you post a bundle, but have never skied/boarded Tucks, your member level might be something like...

Tucks Virgin
Tuckerman Wannabee
Tuckless
Tuck Dreamer
Wannabee Master
Chairlift Boy

Would be a bit of effort to find the code to override the current levels based on your profile however... just a thought. Might upset a few members

Mumster: True, there are many who post a lot, but its really only about 15 of us that are doing all the typing, at least over 100 postings anyways. So I guess adding another level would just bump you all back a level, except for M@ and DMC (temporarily).

M@: As per the thought of a Referendum (reminds me of Franko in Quebec for some reason), I accept my graduation without further adieu... er modification to my member level to TFT Founder. I thank all the people who would have voted for me in advance (if I gave them a chance). I promise that my new assistant will keep the TMC clubhouse well stocked with TP and the usual

As grandpappy (see notes above) M@ mentioned, all TMC members must keep the secret URL...er... secret, and under NO circumstance divulge the secret TMC :tmchandshake:

I'll leave you now for the moment to gather your thoughts...

Personnaly, I don't care to lose my TMC, but it's a little bit normal, as I never skied the ravine. It may not be the same thing for the ones who already skied it. I don't deserve to have this rating if I didn't ski where he entered in the legend.

For the names for the ones who didn't skied the ravine. I think it would be better just to not give a TMC for a user that never skied the place.

Be careful too, for the ones who didn't skied it, but hiked it in summer. Most of the effort is done, but no skiing. Anyway, if someone here went in summer, it's sure it won't be long before he/she comes back in spring to ski it ;)

Congrats for your graduation ! (and the 750)

And for the Quebec referendum..... hmmmm... I may not talk of my opinions with at least 2 ontarians in the boards :p :p :p

Trust DMC to have found this site first. I still think Stoogie beat him to the TMC. (remember Stoogie woke up at 4 AM and would make multiple posts on his way to work? He sometimes posted the same message multiple times. ;) Be safe, have fun... :skistooge: )

:skicdave: I like the concept of incorporating experience into ones title. There are people who only occasionally post, but have scads of TR experience and depth of knowledge. Others blab on, but ... The issue of having to ski ( v. :happyhiker: ) TR to be a TM is tough. Probably 95+% of T4Ters :snowboardstyle: :skicool: , but what about theose that only :happyhiker: ? I don't know the answer here, but just raise the point.

And the requirement to keep the :tmchandshake: sacred? Absolute.

LOL Mum, it's not very surprising that we "blab on" as on the last 40 threads, there is just 2 really talking of skiing/boarding Tucks. (the purity test and the vertical question). If this was just a website to share our experiences in Tucks, I wouldn't talk a lot, except asking questions on the trails.

This community is now quite larger than just Tucks, but I love so much the fact that even this summer, it never went the "Yankees vs Red Sox boards" or "Tour de France board" like some other boards.

hmmmm so much info to ponder. How many TMC members are there? If it is really limited to the core of us who have been posting lately is there any real danger of having too many, or can you have too many? I do have this question though...has anyone other than the original few gotten to the club as fast as frank? The guy is a machine I tried keeping up with him at the beginning but sheesh my boss lurks you know?

Now granted, I have yet to make the pilgramidge to tucks, which would make me a virgin of sorts but does that make me any less worthy or less passionate than those who have? I share the excitement of those who have gone before me and revel in the tales of previous expeditions. I long to hear the tunes of saxman echoing around the ravine as I climb and descend, to celebrate the thrill of a headwall jump and the agony of a ragdoll down the chute.

I believe that there are people like myself who can and do continue to contribute meaningful conversation and distraction from this snowless, work a day world.

I will be happy to accept any changes to the admission requirements as decided by the members and the administration. I will remain a staunch supporter of Tucks, T4T and snowsliding and will continue to look forward to my first trip. I do hope to make that first trip with the completed "Keg Zepplin" (patent pending) so at the very least I can make friends by sharing beer. Untill such time I am honoured to surf and post among you and be a part of such a passionate, sometimes, no mostly insane community.

OK. My input. The TMC status should stay the same. A modifier (i.e. Dodge's, Ho-Jo's, Pinkham, maybe summer hiker, whatever) should be added. Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! I don't wan't to lose my TMC status!!! Seriously, the site is the Ultimate Guide to SKIING Tuckerman Ravine. Skiing it HAS to be integral to entering the TMC. I hike it the rest of the year as well, of course, but the test of Tucks is the skiing. I've summited Washington well over 40 times and have seen 50+year old fat women hiking at Tucks! OK. That's my feedback for now. More later if I think of anything. Have fun, be safe. Al :skistooge:

Trust DMC to have found this site first. I only used to come to this site in the Spring... To get info on what was happening at Tucks... A seasonal lurker... As some of you know - I've been hosting Ski related websites and boards since the mid-90's just like Dave.. This is one of the best.. I'm pretty damn proud to be associated with it in some way... I jumped with joy the first time Dave put a link to one of my sites up!!!

This season was different as I am no longer a seasonal lurker..... The crew we have here is one of the best I've ever encountered on a WWWBoard... We are all kindred spirits.. I look forward to actually meeting all the regular posters...
We are a "fratenity" of East Coast Back Country skiers and riders... Thats pretty cool... We span 2 countries and many states/provinces... But we all end up in the same place every Spring..

A sliding singularity....

Frankthemachine was in vacation, Bannick. It's why I was posting so much messages. There is may be the fact that I type at 125 words/minute to help me, although I have to traduce all...

I think I counted yesterday 13 active TMC members. Don't think there is some inactives, cause it's only recently that people have passed over the 100 messages.

Jolly J, Castlerock, Bannick, Blade Girl, Frankontour, RR, Elwood, Mumster, Skilaslenas, Stoogie, DMC, M@ and Skicdave.

I'm really sorry if I forget someone.

I personnaly think that every dedicated skier is interesting to read.

That would suggest a Brooks Dodge Club... ie BDC plus perhaps the JDC (Joe Dodge Club) as Joe was a key figure at Mount Washington. What about Dr. Wiskott who skied it first? (DWC) Fred Harris who did the first ascent on skis (FHC). Robert Livermore who was one of the first to ski from the summit down the headwall (RLC).

No, I'm no historian. I do enjoy the past, some things retro, especially sking back in the 40's 50's. So between movies, books and net stuff I'm learning a bit more over time.

I can't believe that with all the posts franki lets loose he has never been to the ravine....... i motion to immidiatly revoke his toni matt status

Let me first remember you that I've already been into the ravine and that you should read the threads I began, before to talk too much :p . And I'm not sure that a lot of folks here climbed from Pinkham Notch to The Summit within 3h30, including a long stop at Lunch Rocks.

Also, I remember you that I'm not the only TMC member that still didn't ski the ravine.

You talk of a message flow. If you count it, I have an average of 5,5 messages by day, it's not that much, although I had a lot of time to spend this summer. Ok, I wrote a lot, but if I'm almost at 300, it will take me a lot of months to reach the 400 and I will probably have skied the ravine well before to reach the 500.

I don't care of losing the TMC, but I don't need the "post monkey"

I'm sorry if I bother some of you (like the 2nd 1/5 rating that I just got proves it). I'm too maniac and I know it.

Dave : for the disk space, as I told in several threads for 1 week now, the message flow is over, so you won't have "server full" problem or so.

And I'm not sure that a lot of folks here climbed from Pinkham Notch to The Summit within 3h30, including a long stop at Lunch Rocks.
A lot of folks here could really give a hoot how long it takes to hike the summit from the parking lot... We're more concerned with skiing routes and conserving energy so we can get a sweeeet ride in..... At least I am... I'm all about a leasurely climb..

It takes me almost 3 hours just to get to Hojos with a full pack... And I'm proud of that!!! ;)

BTW I don't think the Doctor was serious.....I should lose my status before you as I am the one who has yet to visit Tucks.

Hey how can you see who rated you or what ratings you have received? Am I missing that link?

Dave : for the disk space, as I told in several threads for 1 week now, the message flow is over, so you won't have "server full" problem or so.
Hey don't sweat the disk space Franko. Just teasing you... heck we wouldn't bother if we didn't enjoy your company.

Cheers :)

Gotta love Franko :lips:

I think its the whole French to English translation thing...

DMC : the 3h30 to hike was not to compare with skiing/boarding. But I wanted to say that if I have the energy to hike it in 3h30, I won't have too much problems to reach Tucks + making some runs in a day. I'm not just a big writer that just don't have the shape to hike the mountain and that will never ski it.

Bannick : If you can go to Colorado or in the west coast rather than la Réserve, I will forgive you ;) For the TMC, I don't deserve it more than you, but we should have another title for us, who didn't ski the ravine, but that are assiduous writers on the boards.

For the ratings, very easy. You can't see who rated you, but you can easily know the last rate you got. Going in your profile + your details (where you can edit your infos), there is the actual rate (ex : 4,57). So if you have 8 votes and an average of 4,57 and that you fall to 4,17, with now 9 votes, it's easy to see that you got a 1/5, with a calculator.

(BTW, thank you to the 2 ones that gave me a 5/5 in the last hour)

Mumster : Thanks ;)
I guess it's enough easy to know why... the little new user that never skied Tucks and that writes 300 messages in less than 2 months even though he rushes in english...

I can tell you that before Lftgly, I'd seen 2 pics of Tucks and 1 pic of Hillman's, that's all. Now I just can't wait to ski it and I rush to believe it's not already done. If I hadn't got problems in one of my courses last summer, I would have skied it in june, but I didn't get the chance. Not surprising that I write so much.

Come on everyone! Remember, we're all here for the same reasons - we love snow, and we love to ski/ride/slide/hike/ :beermug: and :D !

I agree with Kmrnskier ;)
I agree with Rollinroc (what is BFD ????)

So what = "Pis ça ??" in french

and for your question, I was trying to mean that I'm not a 400 pounds internaut who passes his days in the boards talking of anything just to pass the time. I'm somehow already a Tucks Junkie and it won't be long before I hit the 50 at least at the V0.5

Wow... it's 10PM and there is actually 13 persons on the boards including 6 guests. It looks like the family is going to be extended ;)

I will sixth or seventh of 23rd the immediate induction of :skicdave: into :tmc: , Good on you :ma: !

This damn dial up I'm at so much is a real drag! It take s me forever to catch up. Too much to comment on! TMC really ought to be for those that have skied Tucks, but all that are there already should be grandfathered as well as any other change to the rating system.

I believe there was only two other members of the TMC when Stooge managed to make it.

I was in a play in high school, and there were a bunch of guys who were playing the fire-men, and they had South Burlington Fire Department jackets, and the back of the jackets had big "SBFD" on the back. The joke was (and it somehow seemed funnier then), "So, Big ****ing Deal"

And now I think I have sworn for the first time on this forum. But that's my new internet safe way to swear, switch the first two letters.
But were like three pages into this damn post anyway and I totally forget what we were talking about.

Oops.. I guess I kinda started this thread... right, official meeting of the Toni Matt Club.

Keep it DOWN people. Rules of order in effect here.

All new buisness taken care off we move on to the part of the meeting where we dance.

And, announce the next offical meeting. I'm thinking wildcat, cannon or attitrash.

Can a get an offical motion on that?

About the number of posts to reach the levels, I think Mumster was probably right : At his actual speed, DMC should reach the 1000 messages in... 7-8 days. Dave in 4 days. Mum and Elwood in about 3 weeks.

This evening was the first one very crowded I've seen on this board. Really incredible ! Thanks to you all !!
