in the Mount Washington Valley. 40 degrees this morning with a wind chill to 33. It's not going to be long, but I am personally getting tired of waiting.
It certainly turned out to be a sweet day in the NYC area.... :)

Here too... 39 degrees tonite at St-Jovite, so it should be close to 34 at St-Donat and below the freezing point at la Réserve... where I'm gonna be, tomorrow morning ! I should leave early and try to find some ice spots on the mountain ;)

Yep, Winter is definitely coming!!! The temps are getting lower, even down here. Although today is a beautiful day.
There was another sign that fall (and winter after it) is upon us yesterday...the cross-country (running) season started!!! (for me at least). Our team won, with 5 guys in the top 15 (I was #4 on the team at 13th).
Runnings fun, but can't wait for the skiing!

Congrats for you team victory !
The leafs begin to turn yellow and red, at the top of La Réserve. The last step before skiing is begun.

NH Tele - for some reason, I can't seem find Tenneys' website. How much terrain will actually be open on Oct 1st? Weird. I just tried a google search & I'm not getting the site either... Hopefully it'll be back soon.
Anyway, without an exact quote, I think they said 1000 vert on October 1st. I've never actually skied there before, so I have no idea which trail/lift that means, but I'm still excited! (I just hope they make their deadline).
I wouldn't be surprised if Killington's opening day terrain is a lot better, but Tenney's opening earlier...

Welcome back, Kmrnskier !!
Glad to see you can now re-access a computer ;)
About the website of Tenney, here it is :

Personnaly, I think it's fun to dream, but I would be surprised, if they succeed to open a 3000' long ski trail from oct 1 to winter. They can just blow the snow at the bottom of the mountain and move and spread it 3000' long seems me quite long. Despite all, I really hope they will succeed. Here too, Mt St-Bruno think to open quite sooner, with their new snowmaking system. Mid-october they say. St-Sauveur should challenge them, so ... interesting ! I Wonder where Killington will be in this fight this season !
Back to my 1000+ pages to read this week !

LOL stoogie... sad that you searched so much, I had the link right here...
hey... when you search for a website or a particular topic, just go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com) You should find what you want in less than 30 seconds. (I'm sure 75%+ of you know this website, but for the 25% other ones.......)
oops.... I searched it for fun and effectively, it's not easy to find, even on Google... sorry !

Cheap :liftticket: prices too: $17/day mid-week. But on the other hand, I think I'm going for another season pass like I did last year. Gunstock/Cannon Full pass plus a good discount at Sunapee (which I didn't ski last season). Cost me (if I remember correctly) $269. (College Pass....Go back to college, spend $38K or so on tuition and YOU TOO can save money!!! lol) Divide the $269. by 60 (approx days skiied last season)and it ends up costing like $4.83 a day. I kinda like to get my moneys worth. Maybe I'm cheap? Maybe, in reality, I just like to ski!!! Anyways, Have fun, be safe. Al :skistooge:

SkiStooge - There is a Gunstock/Cannon pass? Was it changed this year from Cannon/Bretton Woods last year? I opted for the Threedom anytime limited this year. $319 if I remember correctly, with holiday blackouts. Not that I would really want to be at Loon alone on a holiday. Do you have blackouts on your pass, or is it for anytime?

2nd grade - Canadian conversion... :)
It's either metric or loonies.... not really sure.. You may understand more if I tell you that it's my 7th studying year after the end of my high school...
School in canada :
2 years of "pre-school"
6 years of elementary school
5 years of high school
2-3 years of Cegep
3 years of bachelor
2 years of master
3 years for "doctor" or so...
So I'm actually in 1st year of Master, after I finished my Bachelor last winter.

I think Quebec is the only province to have CEGEP. Most provinces have 1 through 12 grades.

frank, :p means I am razzing you. In America second grade is for children. When in college, we say Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of college. So you would be a sophomore in America which, interestingly enough, actually means "Wise Fool".
Canada is like a whole 'nother world... cool...

And I think the cegep is quite higher than the high school in USA and is more like the 1st year of college in USA (or 1-2 when you do 3 years in cegep). But it's really different, between USA and Canada... Quebec in particular... so we can't really compare.
BTW, as the Cegep is mainly called College... and that in high school, I was at the "College Laval", well, it means that it's actually my 12th year at college !!!! hehe !!

KRM: There is a pass to all 3.(Gunstock, Cannon and Sunapee). Gunstock calls it a "College Pass" and it's good at all 3. (At Cannon the first couple times I had to go talk to the nice lady in marketing so that the lifties would believe it was truly good at Cannon also). When I got it I had to have my college fax my student status, full-time, etc over to Ticket Services so you pretty much really do have to be able to provide documentation to get it.
College Pass - valid at Gunstock, Cannon & Sunapee Mountains.
$239 through Dec. 21, $279 after Dec. 21
Ski all three mountains for one low price! College students must submit proof of full-time status with documentation from their Registrar's office. College ID's will not be accepted as proof of full-time status.
Knew I could find it on their site.

Homer walks in and preempts Bart's program for a show about college that
he really should watch. The show is called "School of Hard Knockers",
and it stars Corey Masterson.
Prez: [on TV] Dean Bitterman, I hope nothing unsavory happens during my
visit. As you know, I _am_ the President of the United States.
Dean: Oh, don't worry. I've expelled those rowdy members of Chugalug
house.
Homer: [watching] Ohh, I hate that lousy Dean!
Corey: [on TV] Your Bra Bomb better work, Nerdlinger!
Nerd: Hey!
[Corey presses the plunger; an explosion occurs in the
background]
[Many colors of bras rain down on the Dean and the President]
Dean: Corey?! Don't worry, Mr. President, I --
[looks over, sees the President dancing and enjoying himself]
Mr. President!
Prez: Lighten up, Bitterman...that youngster will make a perfect
addition to my cabinet. Secretary of Partying Down!
Dean: [growls; a bra falls on his head]
Homer: [triumphant] Yes! Take _that_, Bitterman.
