I have just returned from a tour of south-central Quebec... great times, beautiful country, but somewhat lousy snow conditions due to abnormally warm temps. Looks like I didn't miss too much here in New England, as the same weather has struck (almost no snow left in Portland).

A few days in Quebec City, east to Tadoussac, north along the Sainte-Marguerite to Chicoutimi, then home again. Awesome ice falls in the ZEC Sainte-Marguerite. And wow, has Chicoutimi grown! The past several years have turned the place into the buzzing metropolis of la Nouvelle-ville-de-Saguenay, and I can't believe how much development there has been. Walmart has even moved in, so I guess the metro area is now about 100,000 people. To top off my impression of change, three years ago to the week, it was -30 C, with 5'+ of snow... and this week, it was +6 C with only trace amounts of snow. But it was a great trip, though light on skiing. Merci a tous for your travel tips!

Did you ski le Massif??? I've heard a lot about that place and am dying to get there.

No, we didn't ski le Massif, but we did explore a bit of the Sentier des Caps going west from le Massif.

A waiter in Quebec City told us that le Massif du Sud is much better... can anyone else compare the two?
