first ski trip to tucks for me, but i had hiked tucks once before in august '94. have to say it was more difficult than i thought as far as the hiking was concerned and easier than i thought when it came to the skiing. the left gully was real sweet. all in all it was well worth the effort and here are the pics of how much snow was left(bigger pics are in my photo album if you need em):

MMMmmm... fresh tux.

Thanks for the pix! Looks like the left gully still has the goods. I'm playing with the early june trip possibility.

That is one MONSTER boulder in the middle of my sledding run.

Nice! Thanks for the report and photos! Snow looks better than from looking at the cam closeup.

Nice photo of Left Gully. Four of us were up in the Ravine on Saturday and were amazed at how much the snow has receded since mid April. The Lip is closed and the top half of Right Gully is gone. We mostly skiied the middle runs and I took one run down left gully which is still very good with moguls that just keep growing. It was our third trip to Tuck's this year and it was certainly enhanced by reading everyone's reports, M@'s videos, photos etc...
Next year we'll be back with a :camera: !

Never mind the falling ice. Think about that baby coming down while your skiing the "safe" snow over there.

Anybody know when that slid? I don't see it in the pictures from May 2.

I'm glad you had a great time skiing for your first time. I thought the hiking was more difficult while carrying my skis as well. My back and shoulders nagged me the most. I suppose not weighing alot and carrying 1/3 of my body weight made it a bit more challenging.

I like your picture looking down the left gully. The snow trail just drops off into the mountain.

I went May 4th for my first time too. My friend and I carried our skis up; but, didn't even get to put them on. It was a stormy day and the bowl was all ice. We couldn't see the bowl really (only the lunch rocks and what ever was close to us).

There were two other skiers up there and they didn't take a run either. The one other person up there had a snowboard and was able to hike a little higher to find a 15 second run of snow.

My husband, a friend, and I are planning another trip this Friday. Hope I get to enjoy what you did.

I attached a couple of photos (hope it works).

Sounds like a normal run ;)

Good luck on friday, you might not be able to ski the chute but you'll get some turns. And turns on snow in May can't be bad! Friday WX looks very nice. more pix! Love them!

yes, It seems a significant number of TFT'ers can't read attachments in any posts. (including me) twilson, you can insert them as images instead of links....

I don't think it has anything to do with twilson being Monarch of a minor Duchy in Pennsylvania

I am sitting here laughing right now - trying to think of which title I like the best...

Sorry about the attachments. I have never posted any on a forum like this. I understand that there are tags ; but, I'm not sure what path to use for the photos. If anyone would like to offer any help, I'll try again.

I'll fix your photo's for you Wilson, I have moderator access.

all fixed.

I uploaded your photo's to the gallery, and posted the img links in your message. That's what you'll want to do when you post that trip report on saturday with the pix of everyone in bikini's and shorts from friday.

Slid on may 7th, around 1130am. I was standing at the bottom when a ~25ft wide ice shelf broke off. Loud to say the least. And in typical tuckerman fashion, people continued to hike up through the debri field around other ice after that monster shelf came off.

I witnessed more stupid acts on friday than I think I've ever witnessed there before.
