Well as you know I went solo my last trip. Lots of you expressed interest in going but in the end had other committments(turned out I should have attended to my other committments as well - brrrrr).

Anyways, I planning going up on Sunday night and skiing what I can on Monday (Martin Luther King Holiday). I hope some of you can make it. Even if the skiing sucks, as it did on my last trip, it will sure be fun to hang out with you in the place we all hold dear.

Please don't make me have to beg as my wife hates it when I go solo. It seems she stops breathing and doesn't resume until I return.

K.

From reading the above posts, it be good advice for your wife to work on her breathing techniques ;)

Even if I can go that weekend, I can't on Monday because I have to be back in Philly on Tuesday.

Sounds good for me. Put me down at 50% as of today. I'll check the domestic calendar and update ASAP.

BTW I ordered the grill, it should be in by then.....I'll let folks know so we can have some fun with our menus!

NHSKI -

I can't make it Saturday as I have some work to do around the house and I am going away the following weekend.

I would definately like to coordinate as we could meet up at the park & ride at 101 and 125 and go from there. Hopefully this will all work out and we'll finally get to meet.

It is still on my calendar, but it would be a day trip on Monday for me. Still uncertain, but hoping.

It's clear my sled won't be up to the trip, but I still have my 4500 pack and plenty of lash points for a grill....it's not here yet...getting nervous!

Anyhow, I'm still in.

RR - Glad to see you have a big pack. Most trips I have done with a 3000 ci in pack. I left lots of stuff at home that I would have liked to bring for those chilly nights.

I am waiting for my new pack to come in the mail. It should be here by the trip and it's 5700. What am I going to do with all that space?

Glad to here your going to make it. I don't mind splitting up supplies. I eat anything. I might have some left over vegitarian chili my wife is making mid next week. I'll try and get her to make some extra so I can freeze it. the chili is made with lots of raisins and nuts and has a spicy sweetness to it.

RR

For anybody not wanting to brave the cold night SkiLas has a good idea of staying at Joe Dodge Lodge. You could meet us on the mountain for breakfast. Hope more of you can make it.

NHSKi -

Right now I am planning on heading up Sunday night and staying in the shelters. I plan on heading up to the ravine Monday morning and finding what safe skiing I can. If its nice, but avy conditions remain high I will probally ski down the Sherburn and skin up Wildcat.

Sunday night monday doesn't conflict with many of the bday parties... I'll put in for 12% probability. As usual - I'm hiking, no skins.

Sounds like you got your gear fixed? Hope it didn't hurt the wallet too much.

I'm heading up to Hermit Lake on Saturday after skiing on Moosilauke. Probably a headlamp slog all the way from Pinkham. With Any luck I won't need the tent on Saturday night.

I'll be skiing as much as I can stand on Sunday...but I'll be down by dark and then I'm headed home....domestic tranquility aces my need for skiing on Monday.

Will have the radio set to 9-14.

M@

Hey RR, I would be interested in meeting up either/both Saturday at Moosilouke and sunday at Tucks. What are your plans?

kfarrar
01-14-2004, 04:45 PM
Wish I could hook up with you guys on Sat or Sunday. It looks like the earliest I can make it to Pinkham is 7:00 Sunday evening. I imagine you will have left by then.

Mt. Moosilauke is on my list of peaks to ski.

NH: I'm on a group trip, Gorge Brook - Snapper loop via the summit.

"We expect to ski down to the Ravine Lodge to start the trip, gathering at 7:45 for an 8:00 start. That means if you are not staying at the cabin you need to add in a 1.5 mile ski into the Ravine Lodge for the 7:45 meeting time. We will wait 15-30 minutes but we will be skiing at 8:30, going up the Gorge Brook trail."

NOTE: This is not an invitation to participate in the group trip. The Leaders have made it plain they won't accept any folks other than those in the trip already. That being said, it looks like summit by 10:30 or so, unless there are some very slow people. There will be time for making arcs on the snowfields and if conditions are good we'll go down via the Snapper. Bring your radio and give a buzz on 9-14...I'll try to remember to switch on before breakfast at the cabin.

Edit:

Dan,
There will likely be some time to get together on the Summit area. We can talk about the Hermit Lake overnight then. At leas, if you are still on the Moose, I can hang out at the parking lot until you are down and we can talk then.

Has your % increased today? Are you going to inquire about rentals? It would be so cool if you could skin up (eventhough I know you probally want to ski on your new CrossMax's)

M@

Hey Kfar:
If anything my probablity is lower... BOTH cars failed to start this afternoon... so Suzy is getting a ride home from work to pick up the kids and we'll be stuck at home tommorow with zero cars. This is gonna cost me minimum $100 in towing... and the garage says the first offical apppointment is tuesday...

Long story short - if the cars are working I'll try to come - but I can't leave the fam at home with no transport.

That all being said, I'm gonna throw a 21% chance I can make it.

RR,

I plan on skinning/skiing moosilauke solo on saturday. No radio for me, but i will keep my eye out for you. Will be wearing a blue jacket, black pants and a red backpack. On sunday morning, myself and kfar will be skinning up the tucks trail, and it would be cool to meet up at hermit lake, again wearing the same cloths, so keep you eye out for me and kfar and maybe we can make a run together.

I don't think I can make it guys... :(

Make sure to take lots of pictures!!! (Tucks & Moosealauke!)

I'm looking at Jay Peak on Feb 6th, possibly skiing Big Jay. Probably about 40-50% at this point....

Besides that I'll probably just be skiing within 1 hour of Laconia for the next two weeks... I don't have a radio, but red northface coat, black Giro helmet, red goggles, black pants. Teleing, either on a pair of K2 Super Stinx or Rossi Attaques... If you see me sometime, give me a shout!

I'm looking for Kfar on the webcams - but it looks like the clouds are blocking everything. Hope he's having fun! Avalanch on lower snow fields and little headwall look like they are both skiable.

Wish I was there - instead of :work:
