Farmers Almanac (http://www.c-n.com/news/c-n/story/0,2111,795627,00.html)

The almanac, which hits the newsstands Tuesday, provides little solace for snow-weary New Englanders still thawing out from last winter.

"The big story in the Northeast is that February looks like it's going to be a never-ending series of storms that will be reminiscent of last year, when just about everybody was ready to head for Hawaii," said Sandi Duncan, the almanac's managing editor.

The forecast calls for a showery spring followed by an extremely warm and humid summer. It says one and possibly two hurricanes may threaten the East Coast in the first half of August. "

Bring on the snow!!!!

Does anybody swear by the faRmer's almanac? Does this thing accurately predict weather, or is it a hoax? I have never paid any attention to it, because it seems to be like a Nostradomus type thing. Oh yeah, I don't read my horoscope either...

I always live by the Bob Dylan quote...
You don't need a weatherman to see which way the wind blows I never trust a forecast thats a week in advance..
I do tend to trust the guys at the MW Observatory..

Farmers Almanac is like pre-season football...

If your team is winning(predicts deep snow) then it's very valid....
If your team is losing(no snow) then it's a waste of time...

Go Jets... Too bad about Chad....

I don't read horoscopes either. ;) But, weather predictions from the Farmer's Almanac are derived from solar activity; some features of solar activity impact our weather. So, it's often reasonably accurate as a gross measure of upcoming weather trends.

I agree that it's trends are often correct. In addition to the sun, some forces on the earth help predict weather.

OK, I may be a little skeptical about weather predictions, but I certainly hope that the trend this year is for a good pounding of fluff all winter long. :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :D

But what does it mean? snow storms or rain storms? does it turn warm too early and wash away all the base, or does it stay cold and dump even more snow? It sounds kinda wet to me...
