So now there's gonna be drinking water at Hojos? Whats wrong with pumping? Couldn't that $ have been better spent somewhere else up there...?

I thought that project started several years ago... is it done? I check the Friends of Tuckerman Ravine website. and they show it as still in progress
While on that topic... here are some of their other goals:
Short Term Goals
- Establish a public and private relationship for finding support
- Coordinate safety, preventio and education programs
- Implement short term solutions to the parking shortage in Pinkham Notch
- Create a volunteer network to implement projects and programs
- Expand and upgrade the hand-held VHS/UHS communication systems (Accomplished)
- Implement a trail maintenance program for the Cutler River Basin Area
Long Term Goals
- Improve trail system between Hermit Lake and Tuckerman Ravine
- Drill deep-well, year-round potable water system - In Progress
- Develop a long term solution to the parking problem in Pinkham Notch - In Progress
- New - Develop a 30 minute educational video for wide distribution
- Improve and expand the first aid cache in Tuckerman Ravine
I think I read somewhere that they had drilled the well, but hadn't installed the pumping equipment yet. I think they have to run power to HoJo's.
Maybe they'll install heaters in the Lean-To's next.
On that subject: I thought it would be funny to install a power outlet in a leanto. Not hook it up to anything, but just put the outlet there and wonder how many people would actually believe it worked. Maybe put a sign on the back side of it, on the outside where it leads to, saying, "What are you kidding?"

hee hee.. how about installing an old tv even and having it plugged into that outlet. Install a small sign pointing off into the woods that says 'electrical panel'
Oh and ensure in this case that the other shelters have same mentioned power outlet, but no tv :)

You could solve the parking problem by building a Tram from Wildcat to the headwall. ;)

LOL!! I'd go just to watch people try it. Maybe a switch on the wall too.
