Hi everyone,
This past Saturday I decided to do something that I've never done before. I decided to hike to the summit of Mt. Washington.I've done a lot of hiking in the Whites but mostly during the summer and the only couple of times I planned on making it to the summit either plans fell through or weather turned me away. I hiked up Tuckermans and saw a good section of Washington before it disappeared into the clouds. I met a fellow snowboarder in the bowl who decided to make the trip with me. There wasn't much snow torwards the summit but we were able to find some snowfields with some good snow on them. Being the only 2 hikers with snowboards strapped to our backs we were warned be everyone that past to be careful because the winds were blowing at about 80 mph towards the summit. And because the snowboards act as a sail when the wind hits it you really had to keep good footing (the crampons did the trick). The warnings were true, the wind was unbearable but we made it. After making turns down the snowfields we came down the right gully. The snow was good in some spots and hard in others. But there is a good amount of snow in the bowl so we should have some good spring skiing/boarding. We then made our way down the little headwall and past Hermit to the Shelbourne trail. The Shelbourne trail had a couple of ice patches but other than that was in good condition. We had to deboard a couple of time before we got to Hermit because of exposed rocks. I will post pics as soon as I get them developed. This time the conditions were a lot better than the last time (Valentine's Day). Have a good one...

I think that was me and my new found friend. I came down first and as I waited for my friend I saw a couple of people entering the bowl.
