View Full Version : Who are you people?
Just curious about what you all refer to each other as. I have a couple terms.
For people who don't really know about the board at all, it's: "Some people I ski with..."
For people who know about it I usually say, "Some tuckerman people..." or "A tuckerman person..."
For people at work whome I ski with and I mention you all quite a bit I think I say, "The tuckerman board people..."
And my wife Suzy knows most of you by name, so it's: "Kfar and SkiLas are hitting Cannon... etc... etc..."
I think Ski&Ride said something like, "Ski Club person..." which I liked. We are a club.

I usually say "the T4T people". After a million explinations, I think all of my friends now know. Of course Dr. Phos knows most of you even though he has been in hiding or lurking lately...

To my non-skiing friends (most of them are non-skiing), I say "my ski board buddies", or "people I ski with" (most of them don't know what Tuckermans' Ravine is)
To my skiing friends (non T4T), I say "the Tucks people", or "my other ski people"
BUT....I like the "club" idea, sounds more official. "The Exclusive T4T club" hehehehe :skiplow: :happyhiker:
we're just a bunch of happy weirdos who love snow, it's as simple as that.

To folks I don't know well, y'all are my "skiing buddies" -- even though I have yet to meet any of you in person.
To my wife, you are the Tuckerman or T4T group.
I usually say we are "Time For Tuckerman Dot Com regulars" ....which of course makes us all irregulars judging by the looks I get from skiers/boarders and non-glise alike.
Usually the double take (light goes on) arrives seconds after...then I get asked, "Do you wear a helmet?" or, "How long have you been extreme skiing?"
If there's a conversation and I find out they get BC, OTB or ski the "Caution Experts Only" trails I suggest they check out the site.

Bladeguy has been meeting folks in person (Skilas, KMRN, RR, Ski & Ride) and knows "real" names by now. For a few other ski buddies I refer to y'all as the T4T skiers, and have pointed some to the website. Witn non-skiers or "recerational" skiers I don't even try. Just "Yep, I'm going skiing again."

I usually say I'm going skiing /(riding), or meeting up with people from my ski club. Sometimes I elaborate more & add "from our Time For Tuckerman web board". I agree w/ KMRNskier, "TFT club" sounds official and cool.

Background; my wife was a researcher for UNH studying internet crime against children, so I never descibe anyone as being from a web based group! Ski buddies works for me :)

I like where this could go.... :D
I'm already a memeber of the Anarchists Ski Club... We have no real memebers - We have no trips scheduled - we just go.... Or not... :)
"Know your limits - ski beyond them" is our motto..
I made a couple of enemies on the Killington Message board.... (Little old me - believe it or not! ;) ).. My Fiance' got a little nervous when the guy started sending threatening Emails and someone called her a ****... Since then - I've toned it down and don't really discuss people I meet with her...
You guys are MUCH different.... Our common thread keeps things relatively calm.
Every once and a while someone comes up to me and asks me about TFT casue they saw me here...
Enough rambeling...
