Well I'm gonna get a couple days off from skiing. Took a nasty fall this morning which didn't really surprise me as my skis didn't feel quite right. After the fall, I was all over the place, it was like I haven't been out in 2 years or something. A little bit later I noticed the epoxy cladding coming up which appears to be the sealant all the way around. Fortunately the ski shop that I use is right next to my office so I swung in there on my way to work. "Man, I don't know what's wrong but they aren't right".

Ski dude looks at them, yup manufacturers defect. Your choice - pick any ski and we'll give you full credit. Well, they didn't have the one's that I'm using in stock and it would take them until the end of the season to get them in so I picked out a different pair. Not a big deal since when I bought them earlier this year I was debating which one to get as I demo'ed both and liked them. So I'm gonna switch to Volant Machetes. The bad news - they won't be ready until Friday.

I guess I could break out the old rock skis?

Oh, and the credit that they gave was before the 25% discount that I got when I bought them so I'm actually getting money back. Fair deal - but I'm without skis for 3 days.

So mumster, I''m at 52 days and holding.

Surfy:
I'm on hold too because I brought demo skis home this week for night racing, and I can't turn them. :( So, I'm working evenings instead. Thankfully, I should be reunited with my best friends (:skis: ) for the long weekend.

Bummer! Hey Surfy, have you seen the commercials for the Machetes with Shane McConkey hacking folks to death?

This is exactly why I own 8 pairs of skis...

Eight pairs of skis? Good idea, skilas. But, will you explain the concept to the Dadster for me???

UGH. Three days off skiing and my friend just flew past me in vertical feet. She sais she is going to outdo me by 200,000 feet this winter. What's a girl to do???? I better dial it up -> look out Surfy. :skifemcool:

Just skied day #50 at Cannon yesterday... Great snow, about 4"+ overnight from un-predicted flurries, and snowed through much of the day.

I haven't been keeping track of vertical feet, I don't have one of those fancy altimeter things ;)

Anyway, I definitely think that it's a valuable thing to have a quiver of skis; make sure you have something for all conditions.

My current quiver (pairs of skis):
*2 tele
*3-4 alpine (one pair is kinda out of my current use, because they're too short, even for woods)
*2 nordic
*0 AT ;)

How about:
Rock skis - 1 pair
Slalom - two pairs. One with estimated temp wax and the other with a mix, just in case.
GS - two pairs, for the same reasons
Powder skis - 1 pair
Mogul skis - 1 pair
General all mountain skis - 1 pair

Yup, it works out to eight, as long as you don't also want an all purpose carving ski for general skiing on groomed slopes.

Maybe we should make it 9 pairs.....

When the tooth fairy smiles in my direction...one more tele pair and replace my touring skis yup that makes nine :happydog:

1 - Pair General Purpose Ski (Cross Max)
2 - Pair rock skiis (the long boards are probably the "Ski with my sister" ski as well)
1 - Pair Cross Country Ski
1 - Pair SAND skis :)

That's only 5. Guess it's time to buy more skis.
