For those of you who were fortunate enough to be in tucks this past weekend, how about a report? Many members use T4T and this board to get first hand reports before they go themselves. So share the word!, how was it? Besides you get to make the rest of us all jealous.

Thanks!

Arrived at Base Appox, 8:30 on Sat. 20 mph wind and 40 Dgs didn't encourage the though of good weather at the Ravine. Once on the trail the wind calmed and the day got continuously better from there. Not a cloud in the sky and it felt like the temp was into the mid to high 50's by the time we had to leave. The snow was softer than I had expected and wished I packed my stiffer board. Oh well. For a first time It was an unbelieveable atmoshere and the bag pipes made it even beter. Ride On

We camped out sat night at barnes field down the road from pinkham.
We arrived at pinkham at about 8:30 on sunday morning and started hiking shortly thereafter. Trail wasnt very crowded and not much snow a=on the trail so hiking was a breeze.
Got to hojos at 10:30 or so, and it wqas gorgeous, the bowl looked really nice and the sun was shining bright with no winds of any sort.
I ate lunch there and talked with the rangers for the latest danger reports. They informed me that they would like to see people stay away from under the headwall and the entire right side of the bowl due to ice fall. The ice chunks at the top of sluice were expected to fall.

So we got up to the bowl very quicklly and easily, the trail was nearly free of all ice and snow so that made it very nice. It was kind of weird not to see anyone on lucnch rocks due to the ice but still very nice to be in the bowl.

headed up to one of the rocks just under the chute and unloaded my bag and soked up some sun.

Temps in the 60'S and no clouds or wind. Listened to some good tunes by SAXMAN and enjoyed the weather.

We then decided to hike up chute for our first run. The line was moving along quite nicely with the ocasional stop to watch someone fall or jump over and around any of the crevasses.

I stopped about 100 ft from the top of the chute to relax and get ready for my run, i stopped hear due to one small crevasse that was beginning to open up but still not a danger, but i didnt want to go any where near it because i value my life.

-side note, someone had brought their dog up chute and skiied down buit the dog did not want to go due to being scared, it took the owner three times of hiking up and trying to coax the dopg down, finally he attached the dog to his pole strap and lead him down chute. So if you have a dog, be damn sure you know he can get down.

Hung out there for 15 min and enjoyed the scenery.
put my skis on and started craniking out some turns. beautiful snow and i loved the run.

I finished the run and decided to do chute once again, went up the same distance and did the same run again and it was just as nice.

Went back to where my pack was and sat in the sun in a t shirt and shorts and let my feet air out a bit, and saxman was still going.

hung out for about another hour and watched some people coming down the headwall, very insane people i might add, but very fun to watch.

Hike down was nice, sun still shining.

We got to our cars and brokle out the camp chairs and had a few beers and discussed our day and how great it was.

I must say it was by for the best day i have had at tucks in the 4 years that i have been going there.
