I have been to tucks a lot for hiking and skiing, and Wildcat has always caught my eye, but i have never been there. It doesnt look like it has too many trails, but can I get some feedback on how it is?

Hey powderhound, i see your from northampton also! Well, i have been up to wildcat several times in both the winter and summer, and i was very pleased with the skiing. It has lots of nice, steep trails, usually not crowded at all, and their backcountry tree skiing is great. Plus, the views of tuckerman's ravine and mount washington are breathtaking, no matter what season it is. I suggest you go there sometime, i'd say late february is a good time to go. Maybe ill cya around town sometime!

I agree - Wildcat has some of the best skiing in NH. Crowds are minimal compared to some of the highly marketed ski areas around here. People are nice, great scenery of Mt. Washington. Just a great place!! :skifemcool:

You can get a lot of vertical in on Wildcat's "new" high speed quad. Unfortunately my one day there this season (mid February), when I arrived in the heat of the day at high noon, it was zero in the parking lot, with a stiff breeze adding a sub-zero windchill. It was so cold on that chairlift, I had to hold my gloves over my face mask. Two runs and I was done. Not a very good ROI even for a half-day ticket.

I so wanted to check out Thompson Brook. Heard all about it over the years, but never been off-trail at Wildcat. It seems like whenever I drive over to Pinkham, I just get sucked into hiking up, even if there's only time to ski the Sherburne Trail. Just for laughs, I asked the Ticket seller about Thompson Brook, and she just gave me this blank stare. I guess they have a "don't ask, don' tell" policy on it.

Wildcat has been declawed, so it's more of a housecat. The woods....humm, don't know, haven't been. Sure would like to avoid that long drive back to Cannon when the weather or condidtions in the bowl are just too threatening.

Years ago, Wildcat was one of my faves...before snowmaking and before grooming especially. The bumps there were worth the trip and the poaching under the gondola was pretty sweet.

Thompson Brook is very fun. I didn't care much for the rest of the mountain, but will go back to do thompson, and to located the elevator shaft.

Had a blast there two years ago. Hooked up with the patrol for the day and they got to sample TBrook on a powder day. It's definately worth the drive. In the words of Forest Gump, That's all I have to say about that!
