View Full Version : Sit tight... We are taking you back...
Can we get the page you see right after posting to bring you to the area you were on, instead of the posting? I dunno what's more usefull, seeing the posting you just created in context (and with germmy's rendered) or getting on with the next posting you want to read.

Sorry M@, that is the way the UBB software is setup to work, and I try to limit the amount of hacking I do to it (especially when it comes to the task of release updates). I'd think Infopop set it up that way for a reason. I don't like to fool with the basic flow or logic of UBB in any way.
Personally I find it useful as is, since I often notice spellos and such when the new posting shows up on the page, and I immediately cliçk edit to correct the errors.
I think we will find that members use/nav the site differently, and not everyone is viewing using the 'next topic'.... I could be wrong. Lets see what others have to say.

On the telemarktips.com forum, it has an option of going to message or forum... I like this feature. However, I almost always pick the "back to the forum" option, and actually don't do as much post editing for typos & such as I should. So maybe this is a better way. Also, this way you're more likely to notice when the member rank changes!!!
One thing I do notice about this board is that, even on my Business cable connection, the server seems slightly slower than some other boards. This is probably a hardware issue, but if there's some code optimization or something relatively simple to improve the speed that might be good...
It doesn't really matter anyway, just a minor annoyance.
edit to add: My usual forum browsing consists of reading the posts in the list from top to bottom, clicking on about 80-90% of the posts. When I post a message, I briefly look over it, then I click the "goto" button to go back to the current forum's index. I never use the "next" button to browse...

NH_Tele,
Yup the board is a bit slower than some. This is not surprising since its a more complex board (UBB) than simplier sites. Its also a bit heavy than most on the graphics side and dynamic coding. Since T4T isn't financially supported, I doubt we will see it on its own Sun Fire V480 anytime soon. Hopefully we'll manage when peak season is upon us in the spring!

Dave- I understand, I figured it was something like that... Bandwidth limitations suck!
Anyway, besides that, this is probably the best forum I've ever seen- lots of friendly people, a slightly slower pace, and more localized for the East than a board like ttips.com, and of course, plenty of :) :( :o :D ;) :p      :envy: :skicool: :skifemcool:  :skierscared: :skierembarrassed: :skiplow: !!!
