View Full Version : Mighty Wind?
Is it as windy where you guys are as it is here?
Last night the fog was so thick I couldnt see the city across the river - everything was dad still. Today garbage cans and shingle are getting blown all over.
It's sunny - winds gusting around 30mph..
What's it doing by you?

Lots of fog last night here in Southern NH. And there's lots of buzz about all the high winds we are supposed to receive this afternoon. There are news reports stating that scattered power outages are very likely. Could this be a result of SECS? We'll see!
It's definatley the SECS... :) Too bad that thing can't wrap around and pull some moisture in off the ocean and dump it on the NE...

Right now, in Concord here, its as sunny as can be, and there is absolutely no wind. Very windy earlier this morning, and rainy. I heard the same thing S&R did about later today with high winds. Hard to believe by looking outside right now though.

It is so windy in Boston...
(how windy is it?)
...when people fall they get the wind knocked INTO them.
(That was my best effort anyone else want to try?)
But seriously, todays Boston Glob lists Boston as the "Windiest major city in the United States" with an average annual wind speed of 12.4 mpg, compared to Chicago's 10.3 and LA's 5.7 (the "Least windy major city in the US"

Large and intense thunderstorms in Toronto last night. The winds picked up and are gusting to 80 km/h at the moment...they are forcasting gusts up to 110/km/h this afternoon.
It is snowing to the north and west of the city pretty heavily with squalls off the great lakes. It is windy enough that we moved our cars down the street last night away from the trees. You could hear them cracking and groaning under the strain. I was almost decapitated by a piece of flying carpet last night. They are still saying to expect a bit of snow in the city this afternoon and into the night.
It is garbage day here too.....debris flying around everywhere.

Sunny and breezy, with occational power gusts in SE Massachusetts... but the horizon is darkening, looking to a major weather event. I just hope the slopes get snow!

Its sure no Blue Bird day, more like windy Blue Box day. The blue boxes have been rolling around our corner all day... peeps chasing boxes, garbage and such. We need snow to cover it all up!

I'm ready to make a dash for home, but am afraid I'll get blown away ...the wind is howling so hard all of the windows and doors in the hospital are shaking.

Very windy here in Laconia (Central NH). I could hear the wind howling outside all day today.
Unfourtanetly, nothing except a VERY brief flurry in the way of snow...
Looks like Central NH might not get as much SECS as we would like... :(

Great fun today. I woke up this afternoon and looked out the window. A neighbor was walking her little dog and he became airborne so she grabbed the dog and carried him home. Then, on my way to work I was at an intersection where the traffic lights had blown off into the street. And then there was the 18 wheeler that was blown over on the Thruway. Too windy to make snow, unless some place west of here makes it and then it blows on over. Winds have been gusting to 70 miles an hour with snow all day. Just your basic Mt. Washington kind of day.
