Any opinions on what the up high skiing conditions will be on Tuesday? Seems like it's going to be a beautiful day, but with all the ice and rain and stuff lately I don't know what to think... could the corn season begin?

A window of opportunity may present itself....

I think tomorrow will be the day for me. I find out if I got accepted into med school tomorrow so I am going to check my application status from the summit of Washington for good luck. Maybe see some of you out there...

Yeah.. It's the "if it will be that way...."? Pretty much assumed you'd be there, but trying to weigh whether things will be good enough to justify a 1-day excursion for us from here... Corn? Icy death crust (with creamy pockets?) Stable...reasonably?

Not as much experience/savvy/snowhow etc on this end, so I'm def looking for decent conditions as well as weather, which sounds about ideal with high pressure cresting Tuesday morning.

Hope the crust is covered for you and that, while on the summit, you get the news you're hoping for!

will tell the tale. tomorrow could be really good as the new snow, depending on how much, may make a nice surface for turns above the crust on lower angle slopes. if enough snow falls today and gets transported, tuesday could get manky if it doesn't get manky on the south sunny aspects tomorrow. i'm hoping enough sun and lack of wind tomorrow allows south facing to heat up, crust up a bit, then re-thaw tuesday. a lot to ask? you betcha!:D

there will be options........mmmmm, 42 and sunny for jackson with light winds tuesday...............

Thanks for the excellent overview. After poring/obsessing over the available data points this morning, we're not going to make the trip. Call me an overcautious wimp, but this mornings avy report
Some sort of crust exists at all elevations on the mountain which isn’t great news for skiers and snowboards.

along with the weather discussion
surface high pressure will build into the region from the west
today but a weak impulse aloft will keep skies mostly cloudy.

was the kicker-- I'm just not seeing the mank>stable corn transition panning out well enough for me to find and be comfortable on.... Just not quite good enough for this father/son duo....

There will be other cresting high pressure days soon enough.....

well, the avy report was partially wrong. we found excellent snow above the bowl all over. 6" of perfect hero soft wind buff in the lee. well, they don't forecast for everywhere. unreal today. headed right back up tomorrow, and based on the climbing conditions to get up and out of the bowl, south facing gullies could be prime by noon or 1pm tomorrow. no snow to mank, just frozen surface to corn if it warms enough.

Not sure where I've been this winter but it's been a while since I've read these forums. Anyway, I'll be up there tomorrow, thinking the south facing aspects might hold some nice skiing. I've done a few laps on the sherbie this year but tomorrow looks like the most promising day so far for going beyond Hermit Lake.

I'll also be heading up tomorrow. I'm the confused, lost, often in over his head looking person in the orange jacket if you want to say hi.

oh there have been a ton of em this winter. tomorrow needs some serious sun and warmth or it could be some of the worst skiing this season. today would've been in there fer sure.

we can only hope that the hard as iron surface softens.........

oh my, it's looking nice up there on the webcams right now (1:15pm). bluebird, temps in the 30's on the Auto Road Profile all the way to 4300', summit wind speed only 14mph! GOS is probably pretty nice right about now. I'm sure Roger will tell us all about it tonight - bastid!

At least work stuff had kept me right out straight till now so I couldn't even be tempted to view the cams/temps/so forth. But it sure does look like a good day was/will be had. My only solace is that it was kinda chilly this morning, so probably had to wait on it a bit.

But you're right, not just the best but also longer corn days to come, when we can get on it earlier in the day and follow the sun.

valley temps too low for me to gamble on east facing gos. the lip barely corned up today, but sluice and areas to the right were prime by early afternoon. i could be wrong about gos today, but i've been skunked enough times there when tux was epic. not anymore if i can help it.

hi les!
