View Full Version : First timer silly question
Will be hiking in for the first time mid-May and wondering what the best choice of clothing is. I know layering is important, but I'm wondering how many layers I'll need. Long underwear needed or will I want to bare some skin in a t-shirt? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Which clothes? Well you might be hiking up in shorts and a tee shirt and sweating buckets (like this past Saturday) or maybe full winter gear, toque and mits... depends on the weather de jour. Bring all your warmies and then decide on the what (if anything) gets left behind on the morning of your trip up the trail.

Check the weather right before you head out, and don't trust it! Weather can do a 180 up there. I would make it to the Visitor's Center as early as possible, because the walk up is sorta tough and you'll get real warm, real fast. Up top, it can get cold and windy, so don't leave anything behind based on the conditions in the parking lot. Have fun!
