Is it dangeous this time of the season? Yup.

It's dangerous all the time. The biggest change from one time of the season to another is the avalanch danger, which you can find up to the day reports from:

It colder right now is the biggest difference, so not as many people go. There's people there year round for all sorts of reasons, but the big crowds come to ski in late may and april. And personally, I think it's more fun with a crowd.
