Has anyone skinned/skied this closed route recently?

thought this route was literally "wide open".. are u looking to access mt.J or just rd. cruisin? if just rd. cruisin come from the north longer and steeper.. if trying to get up-high on mt.j. taking the rd. wouldn't be efficient..

I agree w/Natron, that's a very long way around. For elevation gain nothing beats the Cog right-of-way. Pretty consistent grade so you can get a good groove on and earn vert at the pace which works best for you.

Once up high, there are lots of potential avalanches waiting for you. These are not tame mountains.

For a more arboreal route, the Jewel is worth considering, and if you tree ski, you may find a diversion or 3;)

Closed to cars, but if you tried to ski it you would probably get run over by a drunk snomobiler.

"run over by a drunk snomobiler".

That's what I want on my gravestone.

Thank you for all the reply's...I did go up last Sunday morning and observed the active "snowmobile r-o-w" on the notch road so....skinned up along the cog to just below Jacob's, observed and spoke w/ less than a dozen that did the same and it was a great ride back down to the station on my Icelandic's...may go up there this Saturday...

Cool, glad it worked out so well. Now that you are hooked, get some pix while you are up there!

It can get dangerous, but those places are so inspiring.
