Not bad article...tele skiers may find it a bit humorous...and, forgive me but, the Bruce Trail and Teardrop are NOT double black diamonds....lol
Good general exposure....as a Vermonter, I hope it can lead to more recognition of the untapped, low impact economic opportunity it offers to our State that relies so much on tourism, especially snowsports which have seen flat, at best, activity in the past few years...
Edit: That was meant to be "Prominent"....lol

Lots of inaccuracies or at least not quite accuracies in that article. The one that sticks out to me is suggesting that Jay Peak has adopted "If you can't hack it, don't hack it" as an official resort slogan. Not only have I never seen that wording come from Jay Peak, but it was Ben Rose of the GMC that first wrote that line in an article on VTsports.com (to the best of my knowledge). I have always taken issue with that statement because it came from someone speaking vehemently against cutting but who also claims to ski BC tree lines. There are a few natural lines out there for sure. But most BC tree lines have needed assistance, though. Its a hypocritical statement coming from any BC tree skier, IMO.

Riv. there are thousands of acres of skiable terrain. managed lines that lead from summit to car maybe few, but lapping hardwood ravines is simply a matter of walking out there - the moose and birch stands do a wonderful job of keeping things naturally open. negotiating summit evergreens is definitely snow depth dependent but winter is long - and people seem to be more impatient which leads to "management"
stating the only good skiing is dependent on hand trimming is the same as saying the only good hiking happens on a blazed trail

It's certainly possible for the skier who has done his homework to find some good upper elevation skiing, say in slide paths, that doesn't need man-made improvements. This does tend to be the exception rather than the rule, and such terrain is limited.

There was a poster at the bottom of the Tram 2 years ago in the temp stairs with the logo and the slogan... It has been removed since the THL is operationnal. I think there might be one up in the upper Tram Haus

Love that they put something about the Jailhouse Chute... but then, the Meatheads and some PR departement love to shoot films and photos from there to show the "pow"...
And again, if there wasn't any trimming done anywhere, how would Jay's glade be so famous? The "glades" were there way before a sign went up... some needed more help then others... but still.
Let's all remember that most of New England is second growth forest. Our forefathers logged the heck out of it before coal came on the scene.
just sayin'
