View Full Version : Conditions for Cardigan
The conditions report doesn't sound too bad. Anybody been out there recently that can give an actual ski report?
Thinking of heading up there in the bitter cold on Sunday.

As posted on the other site:
Todd--the New Hampshire ski group is holding their winter workshop there this weekend, so unless you get there early Saturday, the trails will probably be a bit tracked out. That said, there is usually plenty of snow left--you just won't get first tracks.
Conditions are here:
http://www.outdoors.org/recreation/tripplanner/go/index.cfm
They are saying 26" base with "flotation devices" recommended for all trails.
Sounds pretty sweet to me.
BTW--we (the Boston AMC) is holding our BC skiing workshop the following weekend (Jan 28-30).
That said, the lodge is usually full most weekends in the winter, so getting there early on Saturday is usually the best bet.

Glad someone asked, I was curious about the sweater too.
Anybody know if they escaped the r*** on tuesday night? Any crust layer on top of that 26"
We skied Alexandria/Kimball trails yesterday on Cardigan--conditions are great and there was plenty of fresh snow. 80 people staying in the lodge for a wilderness school, but only saw 8-10 other skiers/riders. Descent from jsut below the summit cone is possible--bring the rock skis--coverage on the trails is very good w/ a thin layer of breakable crust 5-6" down.
