The John Sherburne Ski Trail is thankful for the recent snow. Underneath the new blanket is a mixture of frozen crud, water ice, abrupt waterbars and bushy vegetation. Keep those tips up and watch for wind affected areas.
That's from the website regarding the sherbie

sherbie was the best I've seen it in a long time. Boot top to knee all the way to pinkham, no wind slab anywhere. Before this storm the bottom 1/3 was grass, so you might not want to bring your new skiis.
Suspect GOS will go fast this weekend. Watch out for the rocks, as there's not much base anywhere.
Doublehead rocky at top. Not worth the double fall line section up high. Black was skiing good.

Dude, you're the best! Was thinking of which one we'd do tomorrow, this is very helpful!

Slept in this morning, had a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, homefries, clementines and tea, and headed for Black. Arriving at the late hour of 11 AM-ish we were surprised to find the parking lot empty and no evidence that it had been skied today. Sunny, warm, still winds and the mountain to ourselves. The trail was in excellent shape for us, covered with deep fluff but also a handy skin track. Not many photos because when I took this on the way up the camera battery indicator was blinking red.

This is fairly near the bottom, but it got deeper further up.
This was our first trip there, and it was a last minute substitution for the cardigan I had hoped to summit but after an awesome day at Cannon yesterday I didn't think I'd make it (recent anemia has limited my range - hoping doctor can help there). Had our sammaches and cookies at the cabin, got off one last photo (Yay Gorrillapod!) and headed down.

Loving the new Paybacks + Dynafit setup, up hill and down. We could not believe our luck at the amount of still untouched powder on the trail. Although it is low angle stuff, it was a ball to play in all the way down. And of course Windy the Wonderpup enjoyed chasing us, as always.
Hit one hidden rock and went strait over the handlebars into the snow, and it felt like falling on nothing. Or a cloud. Total cushiony fluff. The rocks were otherwise not an issue.
Near the bottom was a huge crew heading up to overnight at the cabin. Boy did we get lucky. :-)
Also ran into bcborder (sp?) and his pooch in the parking lot, about to head up.

Hi BladeGirl,
Great seeing you guys! This thread got me over to Black today and I'm very glad I went :snowboarding: I had a great run and there's still plenty of fresh powder. The cabin crew mostly stayed in the up track. There's a short section above the cabin that could use a little more base; otherwise it was pretty awesome.
Becker Dog usually warms up to other beasts. Maybe next time we see you Becker and Windy the Wonderpup will have a romp.
