Fantastic! LOL Whata hoot!
Man that looks steeper than tucks! Nice air, hope you had enough sand to make a turn before hitting the flats.
Fun shot with your daughter in the background M@!
Have fun at the :beermug: and movie.

I wonder how many 'runs' the boys managed as well has how much vert they squeezed in before the movie.

How COOL are you guys (I mean that)?? I wish I was there :(
And, M@ - how CUTE is Annabanana in the background!
You guys must be having just a ball at the movie :skiplow:

The movie was fun, some really sick skiing as usual. Some damn fine fishing as well. Nobody in our group won anything all that great. An innertube, some t-shirts. Hit the pool hall for a bit afterwards and met some Atomic people.
Got a bunch of Cannon $10 cupons, and couple extra Sugarbush vouches from the floor as people left. If you go to this movie: Get as many of those bags they hand out as you can... within reason of course. If I had known I coulda got like 10 tickets to cannon/sugarbush.
Thanks again Ski&Ride for the tickets!
Think Sand... I mean, think SNOW.
(Damn, that just bumped up my average words I bet)
M@
The sand skiing pictures look a lot darker than it was. It's the flash doing that. I didn't have a tripod, or the knowledge of my camera to get better lit pictures. The drop was actually enough to get in 4-5 turns if you wanted to. I had fun going straight.
Everyone got in maybe 2 or 3 runs before it got too dark. Now that I have sand skiis though - I'll probably head back over when there's snow.

Yeah! that was fun! It was sort of like skiing on slush with a really bad wax job. I will definately do that again.

Is that one of those yellow 'do not cross' police tapes in the 2nd photo with M@? Actually, that was me, and we didn't notice the yellow tape :D  It was twilight... but hey, the gate was open

Heh.. those pictures are even funnier than I imagined they would be. We're the obvious choice for next years WM film.
Sand pit, KC's, Journey and more, last night was a lot of fun. Thanks guys.
I'm pretty sure that is "police line -- do not cross" tape. The pit is right under the power lines, and if you were following the trail from behind the pit, you could come up to the pit and be in for a bit of a suprise.
Props to Django for pointing out that this will be an excellent sledding/skiiing spot once the snow comes.

I think we estimated our vert to be about 100 feet, is that right guys? That's 100 feet off my half million for the year! 499,900 feet to go! I might head back... Perhaps a video?
KC's rocked; great sized :beermug: too. :D
Thanks for many smiles guys (and gal).

I think we estimated our vert to be about 100 feet, is that right guys? I was going with 80 myself... wouldn't want to overexagerate :D "I once caught a fish that was THISSSS big"
Freebird

Alright, 80 it is! Guess that just means I'll have to ski an extra run this year, oh no!
I'm sure that fish was bigger than the one's Tommy Moe was catching! I wasn't aware you could fly fish for Whales!

Freebird and I were at Ken Jones yesterday and ended up mentioning Sand Pit Skiing to Woody (not sure if you remember, but he was at Journey giving out prizes). As soon as we said Sand Pit Skiing, he said "Sand Pit Skiing? I haven't done that in 35 years!"
He went on to say that they used to do it in the summer regularly to help satisfy their craving. Furthermore, he gave us some advanced information on how to grind down our bases so we would have less friction on the sand.
So we're not the only crazy ones :skiplow:

M@ and I were chatting about it on our way back from Manch. We were thinking that epoxying a piece of sheet metal to the bases might be a good idea too. Sheet metal must have a much lower friction on sand than a regular ski base.

HA! Freebird and I came to the same exact conclusion Saturday morning. Sheet metal would be perfect... Remove 1-2 mm of base, put down epoxy and then sheet metal.
Then we could probably start to do some carving.

More pictures from my camera... I couldn't take more, I was laughing too much by this time. (Thanks M@ for being the photographer)

Nice :sandpit: pics Freebird!
Freebirds's pictures catch the lighting much closer to what it really was.

I trust you guys dug a pit to determine the nature of the sand pack? It pays to be avi savvy.
I can't believe I jsut typed that....must be monday.

M@ At least you were able to capture the moment up close, they were great shots. In fact, having a dark background makes sand pit skiing much more ominous! Oh, and love the 1st shot w/ Anna in the back. She's the cutest!
