Anybody have any things they do when they climb to help keep the pace etc...?

I count my steps... I climb and count steps until I'm winded.. Then I stop and rest and try to climb the same amount in the next set or push 5 more...

Sometimes I hum a song to keep the pace...

I'm also a counter, but I usually do it and try to figure out how many more steps there are... or maybe to someday know how many steps it is from Pinkham to Hojo.

When I'm hiking from Pinkham, I listen to my minidisc player. I find if I take a pace of 3-5 songs between quick breaks, life will be good. Of course once I get to depending on the time of year, I turn it off @ HOJO's or the base of the bowl. I also only put one ear piece in so I'm still aware of my surroundings. It's just nice to have some background music.
