May 20 - Snow fields

Spent Thursday sking the Eastern snow fields . It was a great 40 deg day with clear skies and snow like creamy corn until the wind picked up and peaked to 70 mph, at 4:30, and we had to crawl back to the car.
There is about 800 vertical feet left and melting fast.

nice skis bob! i've put mine through 2 full seasons now and i swear they ski better now than new.

800 vert? more like 400-500. at least on monday. maybe it snowed a bunch on tues/wed to add a few hundred feet of vert ;)

Rog....you are right again. I just checked my GPS and the vertical was around 425. You raved so much about the RT 86's last year I had to get a pair and used them all season. They are light and forgiving.

it is a nice 425' of vert.

ya that rt 86. they are soooooo snappy too, full of energy, so much more so than so many skis out there. even after almost 200 days on mine they feel way more energetic than any new K2 or volkl such as the mantra which feels like a dead stiff plank to me when i demoed them.

the atomics are just plain fun and always push back as much as you push them.

i may be out and about mon/tues, but will likely hike to areas with twice the vert or more.

Bob, we finally almost met! I was in Burt & GG that day. I surprised that our Dynafit bindings and Grivel Condor self-arrest grips didn't somehow get us in touch with each other? (I saw another Condor on Sunday -- I think those are the only two Condors besides mine that I've ever seen in the wild!)

Sorry that I missed you. The dynafit bindings are the ones that I got from you last year.
