Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me a summary of how the snow coverage was this past weekend. Could you ski right out of the bowl or is the lower headwall exposed. Also what was the Tuckerman trail like? Just let me know whatever you can. Plan on going up next weekend so hope to see you there
Cheers

I skied yesterday, Sunday 23rd, and well... YIKES! We got a late start skinning up a well covered with soft moist granular Tuckerman trail as far as hojo's. We hiked the rest of the way through mostly granular snow as far as lunch rocks. We did not ski the bowl due to fog and high winds but were told by someone just coming off the headwall that it was more like skiing a 60 degree ice rink, "...the scariest thing I've ever done... exciting though." The stream above little headwall was exposed in many places and skiing around was treacherous, and little headwall was just about bullet proof. The Sherburn Ski Trail was fairly well covered with scratchy icy snow above and softer sugary snow the lower you got with some exposed grass in places and multiple ice patches - one spot, 20 yards or so was essentially unpassable. Overall a mucher bigger workout than usual.
Next weekend, I would expect decent spring conditions if temperatures rise, and very scary hidden dangers and avalanche danger if much snow falls. Sherburn may or may not last, and Little Headwall will likely blow out by then no matter what happens.

I was up on this past Monday.
Conditions were great, slight crust over on left gully, but the rest was smooshy hero snow (wet granular)
Sherburn is holding up except for patches here and there of clear ground and bulletproof ice.
Little headwall is pretty much blown out on the top half...
