Dave,
That's not prepared. Prepared would be if the skis were strapped to the top of the PT Cruiser.

Where did you ski on June 1st Frankonskis? Loup-Garou canyon ;)
Ski La Réserve
nice canyon-stiled trail, they don't have choice to fill it with snow and the fact it's in a nice canyon blocks the sun all day long until mid-may.

No they are inside where it is warm. Ready for a last minute waxing. They are also in the 'Grab and go!' position.

Yeah I don't like the skis on the roof...All alone in the cold with the salt.
I think of it this way...If you had to switch places with your skis would you be happy?

If you only have 2-4 people in the Audi, then ski's in the car (93' Audi A6 wagon). However, sometimes if more people need to pack in, or we need more gear, then Thule boxes are the way to go; you don't have to worry about salt getting on your skis.
Only way for skiis to travel in dignity is in the ski-torpedo-ski-box-on-top things. I call mine the photon... and I'm gonna go load it right now kids.

Yes: I mean thule. I used to think they were pretty silly, but then I went skiing with someone who had one and they are awsome. You just pop it open and grab your stuff. When your done, just toss it all back in. Don't put boots up there though, unless you like them rock solid cold.
And as far as doing anything to your skiis you wouldn't do to yourself, I'd ride up there if I didn't think it'd break off on a corner with my weight.

M@- Yes Thule box's are really great. They definitely expand the capabilities of a car in terms of carrying gear. I've seen racers put 10 or more pairs of skis into those boxes....
They can carry lots of other gear as well. During hiking season, you can store at least 2 full size backpacks up there en route to the trail-head. If you have 2 thule boxes you can hold even more gear.
Frankentour- Thanks!

Ladies and gentlemen, your boards deserve dignity. Skis should ride inside the car at all costs. It is a moral imperative. After a day of being used -- with dirt-laden ice as your only respite from being ground on the sharp points of rocks lurking beneath the inch of powder -- what would you want?

I confess, I will put my skis on the roof rack before I put my ski buddies on the roof rack. But I put them in a bag... sometimes. :snowdream:
Got the Thule Pod on my Subauru...
It fits the skis they make now - but I doubt you could get a pair of 203's in it...

Yes, of course, but the run is not Tucks neither !!!
You have to hike about 400' high, 1/2 mile long, to reach it.
Although it looks like a green trail, it would be in fact a black trail, without snowmaking... and it's a blue one with snowmaking.
If you want more info about it and its evolution in may / june, you can see those links :

Decided to treat myself to some new Ascesion skins this year, as well as some nice new Arceteryx Kneecaps. Both in the mail, I can't wait!!!
Still don't have the Thule on top of the car though, although if KOD is this weekend (looking kinda sketchy at this point, however), I think I'll make the journey over.
