Nice job!!! I've played around with java script & HTML before, just on my own; that looks like it would be somewhat difficult to code! (I don't know anything about Flash animation, however).

Lunch Rocks definitely need to be added, as does the top of the Sherburne Trail

Nice Job,
I do flash animations for work all the time.
Its not an easy task, good job.

Did you create the area or did you get an image and modifiy it?

That should be posted up on this website permenitly.

Dont you think?

I just got it to work, DMC, and its great! Enlightening too: all along I thought the Lower Snowfields were actually the Little Headwall. Dave, can this be made a permanent part of the T4T site?

Pretty schweeet looking DMC. Didnt know you had the cartography skillz... I am aboot halfway done with a flash thingy for tucks too, but have been swamped with work over the past month. Flash is so labor intensive, I usually save it for my hourly consulting work...

Whenever I'm betweem contracts I always try and do something in Flash...

Last year I did an interactive map for Hunter Mountain ( HUNTER MTN MAP (http://www.huntermtn.com/intermap.htm) )

Got 2 season passes for it - but it was a lot more work than 2 passes!!! It took like 6 total revisions before they were happy....

now thats pretty professional. see that back and forth BS after things are finished is why I always do flash as hourly consultation. Most clients dont know proper cartographic techniques and they are just like well lets see what it looks like this way. then you tell them it will look like crap, but they insist. You do it, it looks like crap, then they have you change it back... BANG 4 hours gimme my money... How do you get your foot in the door with ski area DMC? make a map for free on the side and then just offer it to them?

I used to know lots of people that worked for Hunter.. So thats how I got my foot in the old door..

I had a version of the map up at another website.. And they wanted it.. So (stupidly) I said I'd do it for two season passes... Kmart kinda ripped off my map... cool...

I have yet to do a ski related map. Tucks will be my first. Do mostly population related maps for clients. Here is one (http://rci.rutgers.edu/~jcklena/T4T/raskob_with_menu.exe) from back in the day. Most of the recent stuff is confidential for a couple years...

Nice!!!

I've done a couple of those splash things as well..

I think the cartography comes from my memories and experiences... But it really does interest me!

OK DMC--

I cant double post on separate messageboards or my head will explode. I only use KChat to PM people I know really, and besides 90% are k-mart elitist that dont really even talk much skiing. ughhh - anyway what the hell happened to their message boar. something about threats and whatnot? I know disemboweler so that is why i am curious...guess it happened because they changed the site and everyones username got fud up????

Like DMC - I too lurk the K-chat (as P-DAWG) for scoop on opening day rumors mainly......I used to post fairly frequently 2-3 years ago, but with so much BS generally not worth the keystrokes anymore....(unlike TFT)

Sounds like Steve is ready to pull the plug....

Nice! Sunday River has a similar one:
http://www.sundayriver.com/liveconditionsmap.html
last year I recall it also showed which trails were open and where the bumps were.

I'd imagine that ski areas probably check up on their competitors frequently... and match them if they have any fancy new maps or something...

Still, you must have a sense of pride at being the FIRST one to do it!

I know the feeling of copying web stuff. From time to time I will get a spec to code to, and I'll go check our competitors to see where the idea originall came from, and make sure I'm doing it THAT way, as opposed to the spec.
