I was about to post about Hillman's suggestions but read the Hillmans Post. What would be the softest? What's the best way up? Would Lobster Claw be a good suggestion? What about GOS? Only done the headwall, want to explore

Your best bet would be south facing aspects. GOS is a possibility, but could take some time to soften up. Right Gully, Lobster Claw and everything further right should all be softening up nicely these days. I was up there a week ago and those slopes were the pick of the day, but things could be different after last weekends weather event.

We were on our way up at about noon. We got to the hut and the whole mountain was sunbaked. We had changes our plan to do right gully but when we saw all the sun we were pumped. Doesn't get any softer. Today might be different, when you get there just look at what's getting sun If it was anywhere near as nice as yesterday you will have a great day. Enjoy!

Too soft & mushy today in some places in my opinion. We did a couple laps on sunny aspects and then moved to friendlier, less direct and cloudy ones that were skiing nicer.
South aspects can get tracked up badly when it's too warm, whereas a shady aspect may ski better and resist skier damage more. I've heard it said (maybe in Brucie Tremper's book) that skiing the mush can get you yelled at out west.

I have never been "yelled at" for skiing and hope never to experience that. Glad to hear you had a good day as well

That kind of yelling is the most likely!

I don't think everyone shares your pleasant attitude toward others. Oh well, that's the only kind of yelling you'll hear from me.

No worries.... As for the yelling, it's rog's low budget avalanche control aimed at triggering slides so he can go up and it's all clear! :p

Panchito, do keep your sense of humor about you. I've learned (sometimes the hard way) that it serves me well on the interwebz. :D
Looking forward to hearing more of your exploits!

Speaking of getting yelled at... I dropped into a steep mushy line recently and sent alot of snow down with me. Folks waiting at the top were yelling... which is OK with me because they were so preoccupied with yelling, that I got most of the way down the slope before they started skiing!

i prefer to trigger from above, thank you very much. I YELL BEFORE I CUT! there was one unfortunate soul that could not hear my LOUD YELL and i couldn't see him below the roll. windward YELLING proved ineffective :(. twas a bad day for him. could've been worse still.

Your right. Still learning. i could see the point. it was a little soft and I can see how that could effect the turns. Still learning. It retrospect I can remember a time of getting pretty frustrated with people pushing all the snow to the bottom. Thanks guys
