Castlerock -
Where's HellBrook? Kfarrar, the peak of Mansfield is the one in the distance there. Hellbrook is a steep trail that takes you up in the summer. In the winter it turns into some of the sickest skiing in New England, and possibly the nicest tree run in the country, IMO...

The picture has the Nose, Chin and Adams Apple. Basically where the Adams Apple hits the ridge is the start of the Hell Brook. It makes a sweet tour. get a one trip gondola ride. Hike to the summit, ski one of the aforementioned chutes, traverse over to the Hell brook. Ski to the notch, ride the road back out. I will ski it again this year

In the Hell Brook, it is typical of eastern woods skiing, very low except in unique circumstances. Your bigger problems there are tree wells and getting your skiis hung up, feet above you.
The chutes could have fresh snow sloughs and slides. They probably get enough traffic that a multiple layer avy is unlikely.
If you don't have much tree skiing experience, the HellBrook part might be a bit of an eyeopener. You may want to try some other stuff, to get you bark eatin molars cut, like the Birthdays on the other side of the Notch, accesed by the Sterling lift...(as seen in Elwood's earlier photo)

Thanks for the additional info. I'll probally hold off as I am a relative newby when it comes to tree skiing.
I still haven't mastered quick turns, at speed, on steeps, with obstacles in front of me. Ouch!

As Castlerock said, the B-day bowls are perfect for the novice tree skiier. It gets tight in a couple of spots, but not overly steep. Hellbrook is steep and tight like a....

Remember, don't look at the trees, look at the spaces between them.

Castlerock - you are soooo right about looking THROUGH the trees, not at them. I learned that the hard way.
Exactly!!!!
NEVER look where you DON'T WANT to go...
ALWAYS look where you WANT to go...
You body has a tendency to go where your looking... I can't tell you how many times I crashed on snowboard or MTB looking at soemthing i didnt want to hit...
